All the stuff people have been saying about brakes in this thread is valid. However, with your heavy clutch, I suspect you may have a different problem that I also had for quite a while. Brake problems can be triggered by a clutch booster that is not working. A non working clutch booster...
Lift pump is likely leaking air, its not hydro locked if its turning over. I wouldn't worry. you are long overdue for a new pump if its original. or even if its the second pump...
I kind of feel like 9Volts may be a bit low for initial voltage. A few years ago I checked my voltage and I was getting 18 volts on a 24volt Superglow. I went through and cleaned all the connections in the system and was rewarded with 22 volts on initial glow... (which would be the...
Ha! I thought when reading your thread title that you were attempting to avoid the experience I had when I put new lift springs on the truck and then couldn't get it back out of the suddenly way too low garage door.
Your actual problem is one that I am quite envious of... have fun!
A nice trick for brake studs is to support the disc in away that allows the stud to be free at the bottom. (2 2x4s with a crack between them) hold a ball peen hammer on the stud, and hit the first hammer with a second hammer. Full face visor is advised in case you break the hammer(s).
If you did full long presses to the floor when bleeding the brakes, you can get past the normal cylinder travel into the rusty crappy area at the end of the brake cylinder. This can tear the rubber gasket on the piston. It's a common issue on an older master cylinder. Its working fine, and...
4 Years later and my "wiggled" relay is still working. I had loosened the contact studs, moved them around and re-tightened to the same spot. (if you crank them down, the relay won't work at all.) Seems that there was a contact sticking, and the wiggle cleaned it up!
something to check- try plugging your clutch booster hose. The clutch booster can fail, but it holds pressure until you put the clutch in at the same time as the brake. This makes the brake booster lose pressure and gives you the equivalent of manual brakes when you have the clutch depressed...
And they stay balanced with the 2 12v, which they won't necessarily do if using the Noco 24 volt charger (which I also have, originally bought for 24v charging, but now mainly used for the 12v reconditioning function)
I've had glow plug issues in the past when the glow plug relay would occasionally get stuck in the "on" position. This would quickly burn out all 6 of my glow plugs. I repaired the relay and also, for backup, installed a buzzer to indicate when there was power to the glow plug busbar. I also...
