Has anyone interfaced an iPod with the factory stereo?

Good points! The head unit that I've been drooling over is an Alpine unit that is double din, and has all those features available. Problem is, it's right around $1k which is out of the question right now (new fiance, new ring, upcoming wedding, "new" truck...) I may just have to wait. At least...

Has anyone interfaced an iPod with the factory stereo?

From what little I've been able to garner, the only difference between the '97 and earlier, and '98 up models is the CD changer connector. Armed with the pinouts for both, it should be fairly simple to mod an interface for a '98 unit to work with the earlier units. I might have to contact PIE or...

Has anyone interfaced an iPod with the factory stereo?

I have a Kensington FM adaptor and it does "OK", but I've been a professional audio person in some form or other most of my life, so I'm a little picky. I'm sure connecting the iPod can be done, it's just a matter of finding out if anyone makes a device that is plug and play, or am I going to...

Has anyone interfaced an iPod with the factory stereo?

I want an interface to connect my iPod to the CD changer input on the factory head unit. I've searched the forum to no avail. I've searched the internet and all I find is interfaces for '98 and later vehicles. The best I have been able to come up with is that (maybe) the only difference between...

    Silly question....

Hmmm... Cell phone controls? That's interesting. I'm sure they could be adapted for many uses (lights) with a little modification/added circuitry. Maybe CDan has access to them? BTW, the pic is not my truck, I've just come across a few while searching for one.

    Silly question....

What is the switch with "1", "2, "3" on this steering wheel for?

Soon to be former LR Disco owner about to pull trigger on '97 LX450

Update: Called Carmax yesterday evening to see if there was any news on the LX. Sales dude says he'd checked earlier and it hadn't even been picked up by the trucking company yet! WTF?!?! Talked to the sales manager and she promised to find out what the problem is and let me know asap...

Soon to be former LR Disco owner about to pull trigger on '97 LX450

I wish it had lockers to check out :frown:. The 5 day deal is for any reason. I will give her a good going over once at home. www.discoweb.org is pretty popular, although they're die-hard Rover fanatics over there, so don't expect anyone to make a big deal out of their lack of reliability...

Soon to be former LR Disco owner about to pull trigger on '97 LX450

Totally agree with the reliability issue with LR. Love the truck, hate the seemingly never-ending problems. I think I'm paying a premium for the "new" LX, but it is coming from Carmax and they don't sell anything but top notch condition vehicles. Besides, if it's not, I can return it within 5...

Soon to be former LR Disco owner about to pull trigger on '97 LX450

Well, finally got word from Carmax. She's due to truck out tomorrow (4-26-06). ETA is given as 5-6-06, but sales dude says typically more like 4-5 days. Hopefully, he's right. I can't wait! :bounce: Here's a pic from Carmax's website before they pulled it...

Wow, that LC looks huge compared to the Disco! I am excited about my new toy. Still no word on it's ship date or arrival :frown:. Hopefully, I'll hear some good news early this week:bounce:.

Thanks Gowyn. I sincerely wish the Disco was built better. It's a wonderful driving vehicle and quite comfortable. I thought long and hard about getting a later model Rangie to replace the Disco, but there are so many things about the Disco that have disappointed me that I just couldn't bring...

Soon to be former LR Disco owner about to pull trigger on '97 LX450

First, I want to thank you Doug for taking time out of your lunch trying to help me out! They sure moved fast getting it off the lot! They're supposed to call me within the next couple of days to let me know when it'll be here. Could take anywhere from one to three weeks. Of course, I'm hoping...

Whew! That's good to hear! I'd rather do a complete engine OH than touch up a rust spot. It's more of an art...

Yeah, the Disco gives me about 12MPG around town on a good day. At almost $3.00/gal. I need to roll the fuel costs in with the loan! ;p
