    Wierd, intermittent starting issue. 3B

Cheers Lost. Not good, the starter is no more than a year old! That's the other thing I forgot to mention, I can hear the starter relay/solenoid pull in. Maybe a dirty contact on the starter relay....?

Excessive crankcase pressure, plenum pressurised too.

Thanks Red, Forgot to mention he changed the clutch fan for a Spal thermo fan. Engine is non turbo, 2.8L diesel (pretty sure it's 2.8L, it's a 1994 model anyway). Unless there is something i'm missing, the blowby is real high. But I can't see how it's finding it's way into the inlet plenum.

Excessive crankcase pressure, plenum pressurised too.

Hi, I am posting this on behalf of a friend who has an overheating Toyota Hilux. My question is this. There is EXCESSIVE pressure in the crankcase/rocker cover area. Also, the plenum has pressures well exceeding what I would expect to see. With the engine running, we pulled off the hose that...

    Wierd, intermittent starting issue. 3B

I have a 1979 BJ40 with a 3B transplanted and occasionally I have dramas starting her. Sometimes i'll turn the key and she'll pop first go. Awesome. Other times, i'll turn the key and.... nothing. I can hear the EDIC motor move, and that's all. If I keep my hand on the key, sometimes it'll...

70 series ute (1HZ) hard to start. Suspect fuel issues. Opinions needed.

Cheers crushers. the EDIC motor in my BJ40 with a 3B has an over-inject position. Does the 1HZ have a similar over-fuel start function that you're aware of?

70 series ute (1HZ) hard to start. Suspect fuel issues. Opinions needed.

Ok so i'm still having bloody dramas with this thing, and have some more info for the gurus here. Installed a low pressure lift pump (in parallel with the starter relay, so whilst cranking, the pump runs.) However, this made no (noticeable) difference. One thing however, it if I roll start...

    Burnttoast Build Post

Toast, Awesome workmanship on this build mate, it's a real credit to you. Are your rear flares welded to the panel only where the pics show? Or are they welded on the underside also? Would you be comfortable using the flares as a jacking point? Would they be strong enough not to bend/buckle...

Wanted '79 BJ40 bib. In Australia....? Desperate here

Cheers Land, that would be great. I realise it sounds silly, but i've been looking for almost a year with no luck. I can find them, but they're in worse condition than mine. I'm not asking for no rust, just minimal. Also, the early round style grille is almost non existant here. Thanks in...

Wanted  '79 BJ40 bib. In Australia....? Desperate here

Hi, I desperately need a front bib to replace my rusted out one that is beyond repair. Ideally in Oz, but i'll look at anything. I currently have the square shaped grille and would dearly love an older style round one too if possible. Cheers

    3M body deadener. POR15 first....?

Hi guys, I have repaired the rust in the floor of my 79 BJ40 and am sorting out what I need to paint the floor. I have removed the stock sound deadener from the floor. I was going to use POR15 first then the 3M Body Deadener. However when reading up on it, the specs say it has good reust...

70 series ute (1HZ) hard to start. Suspect fuel issues. Opinions needed.

Thanks John, I'll listen for the shut off valve (is it electric or pressure, like a check valve?) I guess if I knew how the injector pump worked i'd be a head of the ball game a little. The vehicle has 250,000 kms on the clock and is in above average condition for it's age. Also, this lift...

70 series ute (1HZ) hard to start. Suspect fuel issues. Opinions needed.

Hey guys, was chasing help from some gurus if possible. I have a '96 1HZ 75 series ute, and it's a pain to start. Cranks for 20-30 seconds or so before it'll kick over. It's much less of a problem on colder mornings, oddly enough. It's worse, after driving the vehicle, when it's at operating...
