I updated another thread on the subject of no sound with the problem I found and solution. The short of it is that at some point in time there was water intrusion into the foot well (likely before I owned it since it was dry down there and the drains are clear). That moisture/wetness seemed...
Looks like they do. You'd have to install an SAIS bypass kits from Hewitt Tech. Its a system that fails over time anyways and is a headache for some due to the codes it sets. I did it on mine. I was looking into headers because I have a Harrop SC, tuned with HPT (2014 Model LX). I've had it...
It's explained in my previous post with the pictures. You can clearly see that the harness is corroded. That happens from water ingress. The moisture along with the current causes electrolisis. That corrosion broke down the metal pins. It's not that it bent. It's that the corrosion had eaten...
Ok, that was it! LX has sound again. I insulated the harness connectors with some dielectric grease to try and prevent this water intrusion should it happen again. Now to putting the interior back together.
Good luck! I'm in the process of putting it all back together now. I'm using dielectric grease in the connectors to try and insulate them better from moisture etc and hopefully avoid this issue in the future.
Can this sub be powered by the factory wiring and still sound better than stock? I know without a dedicated amp it's not going to perform to is fullest but if it sounds even a little better over the stock 10 inch, it'd be worth it to me. Mine is a 14 LX.
Well, I figured out the source of my sound/video issues. After replacing the multi display controller under the passenger seat and sending the amp out for repair and finding out the amp was good, I had to start looking at electrical. Found this:
One of the pins was so corroded it fell off...
Gotcha! Mine is a 14 model. Ni sound all of a sudden since last June. Sent the amp to OEM Auto Audio who tested it and said if was operational. Then thr next culprit was the rear seat module (Rear Moulti Display module) which I bought brand new via Japan seller on ebay, which dis not change...
I've heard from different sources that the amp can get wet from drainage out of the cool box if equipped. Not entirely sure how that would happen exactly. Good to hear it was repairable.
That's an issue with the 4lo actuator. You may think you had it clocked right but I can guarantee it's not. Same thing happened to me during the course of my troubleshooting. The 4lo actuator rod needs to be set perfectly or it will cause the grinding sound you hear. The rod for the 4lo...
