Interesting thoughts from Toyota regarding the 250 in this week’s Automotive News

If you need a chuckle, go over to one of the Tacoma boards. They are crucifying the new Tacoma, which is in every measurable way a much better truck and they hate it. They love the drum brakes and mini van motor paired up with one of the clunkiest transmissions Toyota has ever made, made...

GX Twin Turbo or LC 250 hybrid engine

I have a ‘22 Tundra SR5 TRD OR TTV6 non hybrid. You have NOTHING to worry about that power train pulling a trailer up I70. My truck is rated for something like 11,500 lbs. Now there is much more that just the engine when dealing with towing capacity, but the GX version will be a much better...

Interesting thoughts from Toyota regarding the 250 in this week’s Automotive News

The turbos are what makes that engine. It is really nice to have that much power at your disposal when you want it. If you drove the SR then you also drove the weakest of the lineup. De-tuned to 348 hp. My SR5 goes to 389 and the hybrid cracks 409. Toyota is guiding people who want the big...

    4 banger LC, thoughts?

All the manufacturers put a low quality tire on with super soft tread. It’s a thing, they can buy a cheap specification (buy thousands and thousands) to get them through warranty, make a few extra bucks, and so on. Plus they ride real nice for the test drive. You’re gonna be fortunate to get 40k...

    4 banger LC, thoughts?

I have a 22 Tundra with the TTV6 non hybrid. I get around 19/20 combined mileage around town and commute. Towing a 25‘ camper up “The Ike” I got about 6 or 7, on more regular roads about 10. Driving a brick while pulling a brick you are not going to get great mileage. But the power and torque...

    2023 Tundra TRD - First 3000 Miles

I have a non hybrid ‘22 SR5 TRD OR. Right now just over 26k. I am averaging 19.5 all around and it’s actually difficult to not get low 20’s on the highway. My mileage has gotten better and better as it passed 10k. For whatever that’s worth. It has a ton of power and torque and tows really well...

    2022 TRD PRO

I didn’t word that very well, the hybrid will get slightly better mileage. my truck is an SR5 TRD OR, I get an overall average of about 18.5. It regularly hits low 20’s on the highway. Tuned for 87 octane, although I run Premium from Sam’s usually. At altitude in CO it’s a bunch of 85 and it...

    2022 TRD PRO

Not OP, but the hybrid in these new Tundras is about power. 437 HP and an astonishing 583 ft lbs of Torque. I have just the standard engine which is 389/479. Slightly better fuel economy.
