Thank you @3_puppies! Do you think it’s possible just to replace the input shaft bearing without total disassembly? That’s the main issue and I think I maybe in over my head with the split case transfer case.

I appreciate that guys, what is the fifth gear spacer? What options do I have with that transmission? Maybe a shorter drive line? Besides looking at the transmission are there any markings to tell me which transmission it is, I don’t wanna get into the same predicament.

Thanks for the responses! So I did determine it is most likely the input shaft bearing. I sourced a transmission off of marketplace and it supposed to be out a of 1981 FJ60. Got home and went to replace it and the tail shaft on the new one is 10” and original one is 6”. So what transmission...

Not to hijack the thread but I’m curious as to why my throw out bearing would still be making noise after a complete replacement with the clutch kit from City Racer. If I push the clutch in, there’s no noise. If it’s idling in neutral, it makes a spinning grinding sound. Hoping for some advice...

Hey guys, the clutch was on its last leg and I decided it was time to change it out. The oil pan gasket was leaking and figured we might as well replace the gasket. This was sitting in the oil pan, any ideas what this is???

Did you ever come up with a OEM or after market gasket?

Seems like they had clear coat, although I’m getting ready to do a respray and I’m doing single stage urethane. Looks like clear coat in this picture.

So it sounds like single stage enamel is the way to go? In the process of rust removal and then to paint. This will be an at home job, trying to figure out how many coats of primer and paint. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
