For Sale  Boulder: FJ40 rear left and right rear quarter panel patches

It turns out that I didn't need these patches after all. I purchased them from Cruiser Corps in April (Quarter Panel Corner Patch - Passenger / Right Side - FJ40 1979-1984 - https://cruisercorps.com/products/quarter-panel-corner-patch-passenger-right-side-79-84 and Quarter Panel Corner Patch -...

Applied POR15 to the rear tire wells. After considering that getting a professional paint job was likely to cost me 5 figures, I think I'll just order some White 031 paint and cover up the primer myself. :)

All the parts (emblems, reflectors, and tire carrier) back where they belong. Ground the rust and debris from the rear tire wells in preparation for the POR15 treatment.

Thanks @knuckle47 and @sterling for the words of encouragement! It’s all been a learning experience and there is a sense of accomplishment. Once I have the rear tire wells cleaned out and apply a couple coats of POR15, I’ll feel like it’s a major milestone. Body rust largely dealt with and much...

@43bruiser Yes, I was careful to make sure that my stitch welds were cool by not making successive welds in the same area and I used an air compressor to cool them between welds. It took me a while to dial in my settings. I started with .030" wire, but had more success with .023 wire. My biggest...

I rented a MIG welder and my inexperience shows. I wasn't going to post any pictures of my crap welding, but I need to own up to it. I do have to keep in perspective though. Originally, I was going to pay someone to do a complete restoration (but not for $100K). Then I was going to pay some one...

Well, almost ready. I still needed to put holes in the patches in the right places for the spare tire carrier and the rear reflectors.

I cut out a bit more rust on the rear driver's side and fabricated the patches. I think I am ready to weld!

Reinstalled the winch. I wasn't happy with the way I had mounted the fog lights originally. The standoffs were too flimsy and they vibrated too much. I replaced them with simple angle brackets and gave them a little cockeyed look. I'm happier with this solution. I also decided to see exactly...
