It occurs to me that this saw hasn’t been used in a long while, and the chain may be getting tighter if it’s not flexing enough. If a section is trying to stay straight as it goes around the clutch sprocket the rest of the chain will get tight. This makes more sense than it being stretched...

They are the same width at the top of the windshield. I have an ‘81 hardtop on my ‘74. The header bars over the windshield are the same length.

One is wider than the other… but I’m not sure which. I’ve only ever had an early one.
