Great mines think alike. Did the same thing back in 2012. Granted I dont drive it daily. Still holds strong. I check it every time the hood is open though.
Wow my 2008 LC mirrored the same thing. Missing coolant was my valley cover. Brought it to dealer to get it fixed. Told me #8 cylinder headgasket blew. No engine light but I did feel a vibe under hard acceleration though. My tech stream confirmed the code. It had 237k with full Toyota...
EB Boch now called Nucar is were I get all my oem parts from also. I'm in CT and I can say that the hard shift with high idle is always present 1st thing on a cold morning. Never a issue in the warmer months.
Yeah it's a Gobi bro. No issue with it. As far as the clear coat it's still peeling. At this point not even worrying about it anymore. At 233k miles it does add some character lol. Unless I find a hood at the junkyard. I even looked for a hood decal to no avail unfortunately.
I had very similar issues for years. Throwing all types of parts at it. The one thing I failed to look at was the brake booster. Sure enough I adjusted the linkage bolt behind the pedal. Completely cured my nagging issues. You have nothing to lose. Good luck
