Thanks, our LC now lives in Gloucester, and I’m trying to avoid any significant highway miles. I’ll keep an eye out for you when I’m in Winchester though!
Alex - we did meet at the gas station in Reading.
Haven't seen the blue one, and I would love to meet the owner of the other red one if anyone knows who that is.
I can't believe Eddy from A&M (who also lives in Winchester) doesn't drive one.
Here's a link to an article that one of the beige...
Alex, not sure if that's mine or not. my son drives it to school most days but I don't think he can park there. I saw another red FJ40 driving around Winchester this weekend, but the paint was pretty faded. No idea who that is, first time I've seen one like that in this area. Mine was...
Looking at my first chance to drive my '79 FJ40 in the winter. It was kept in Gloucester for many years so the salt has already hit a few spots hard. The main body was repainted a few years ago, so it doesn't look too bad if you squint.
Just wondering if I am completely insane to consider...

nope, I'm a red with no top. I had it in town a couple of summers ago.
I did stop by and chat with the guy who owns the orange this weekend though, I had admired the work a few times. He dropped a diesel engine in it.

I now own a 79 FJ40. Just a summer tool around town set of wheels for now, the top hasn't been on it years. Only 48k miles!
The body has been fixed up nicely, along with the suspension and the muffler. But there a few little things that need fixing for sure, and it needs a full...
that's what they told me when it failed 2 years ago, even though the roof hasn't been on it in 10 years. I am hoping it's just a clog in the hose at the basin.
Here's the best picture of have.
I started mine today. Just inherited a 79 Red FJ40 that is a family jewel. It hadn't been started in about 16 months so obviously we needed a little jump, especially in the chilly weather here in MA.
Then I started making a list of all the stuff it needs. Need to get the washer fluid pump...
