Black Smoke after Intercooler Install - Help!

Glad you have found a solution. I am trying to understand this. I think it makes sense if you have NOT removed the large butterfly- with the large butterfly closed, and the flat portion of the Trundles adapter blocking air flow through the passage withe the small butterfly, the engine can't...

Black Smoke after Intercooler Install - Help!

As suggested in your other thread, I would remove the EGR (or both) butterflies from their shafts, and if this does not work you will have to use an adapter (or cut the stock crossover) that has a provision for the EGR airflow circuit.

Black Smoke after Intercooler Install - Help!

The presence of the intercooler circuit would not cause those symptoms, even if your IC is oversized. Any leaks at joints will only be evident under boost, not at idle or low load, and a boost leak would not cause your idle problems either. I might look into your throttle body adapter-...

What is this sensor and where does it go?

Looks like the IAT sensor, plugs into grommet on the side of intake between filter housing and turbo.

What did you do on your 70 series today?

I’ll second the suggestion for an IC. It was not too difficult to route the tubing for a FMIC. I went through the radiator support with two holes behind the stock horn locarions. I went with an IC that left enough room for a future winch. EGTs under boost are down by about 300 F. It is now...

Anyone using a turbo boost tee to raise boost for lower EGTs?

I am also on a quest to lower EGTs for longevity. I did not note as much of a drop in EGT at 14 psi as you did. As an experiment, I did try an air bleed valve at the boost sensor, and I was able to substantially reduce EGT at the expense of power loss, as the ECU was seeing lower than actual...

Fitting to go from 6AN to 10mm compression

Old thread, but I wanted to do the same. Here’s what worked for me- generic 3/8 to AN6 hard line compression adapter, but you have to make a couple of modifications to get it to work with the 10mm (.395 in) TC line. Discard the 3/8 ferrule and replace it with a 10mm ferrule, also available on...

    glass part number

I just replaced my windshield and no-chrome gasket on my 96 KZJ78. Those are the correct numbers. $530 for both at my local Toyota dealer. I could not find an overseas source that was either willing to ship glass or cheaper than the dealer. Getting a chance to inspect the glass prior to...

    Receiver hitch for rear crossmember

I used this one from Amazon. I liked that ut is cast, not welded up, and has an anti vibration bolt on top. I tow a 3K trailer. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0B95WRWZN?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

KZJ78 temp probe in upper hose?

I tried a similar hose adapter and I too was not happy with it- too many clamps and had to be forced into place. There is a circular boss on top of the coolant outlet neck that I drilled and tapped 1/4-27 for my sensor. There casting is not overly thick, but enough to form threads to hold the...
