i now have the alpine running through the factory amp. it sounds so much better than the previous bypass. i used ground loop isolators to help with the engine noise. you can still hear it if things are really quiet, but i think the compromise is worth it.

Do you know the model# of the harness for the 2000 cars? I am not sure if the installer cut off the factory plug or not. He is supposed to call me to set up an appointment today.

I recently had an Alpine CDA-9857 installed in a 2000 TLC after the factory 6-disc changer died. The installer didn't crank the engine or he would have heard the engine noise. So he ended up bypassing the factory amp (sort of). He said he put some of the low frequecies through the factory amp...
