Could a fender bender cause a head gasket failure?

I'll take a bad radiator any day of the week but the system was pressure tested right after the accident and no leaks found. Taking it to a different shop this time (one that knows 80s), with any luck they'll find that it just needs a new radiator. I thought about condensation being the reason...

Could a fender bender cause a head gasket failure?

Going into a shop next Tuesday (first opening) to do a compression test and go from there. Could be a cracked head I guess. There's an Ultragauge installed with engine temp on the "home page" and watched religiously. I'm confident it has not overheated.

Could a fender bender cause a head gasket failure?

I'm out of town - son is driving the LC so I'm missing some details.... Nov 5 son rear ended a pickup truck. It was a 35mph zone, he did step on the brakes prior to impact but can't guess how fast he was going. Said his body hurt for a couple days afterwards. So glad that is the only issue...

Wanted  Central/South Texas: Front Bumper for FZJ80

Looking for a front bumper (preferably with all mounting brackets/hardware) for a '96 80 series. Not particular - just need a front bumper. Recently rear ended another vehicle and my OEM bumper is mangled. Not a rock crawler, don't need any big, heavy, high dollar bumper. No winch, no plans...

Anyone have an OEM front bumper for a '96 80 series?

    Post your high-mileage 80 series!!!

Thanks. It's a medium 2.5" OME lift with 30mm spacers in front. No extra weight like drawers, bumpers, extra batteries, etc... @flintknapper hit the nail on the head on the tires.

    For Sale/Wanted thread

Hi all. Looking for a 12v compressor. Anyone looking to upgrade their OBA and don't know what to do with that compressor that won't keep up with their needs any longer? Before buying a new masterflow, viair, puma, etc.. thought I'd post up here to see if someone had one sitting in the garage...

Windshield defrost fogs up the windshield and leaves a residue

There is a strange smell - could be coolant but I'm not familiar enough with the smells to say it is coolant. Not too unpleasant, just a smell. I use the truck in south Texas (Corpus Christi area), park inside at the house and at work. Have driven in the rain but never had any wet floorboards...

Windshield defrost fogs up the windshield and leaves a residue

I know I've read about this on here before but can't find a thread on it now. Same symptoms have been mentioned in various threads but I can't seem to find one stating what is causing it or how to fix it. It's a 96. When trying to use the defroster on the windshield (for fogged up window - we...

    Rubber pieces under my 80.

I replaced the spacers yesterday. Never done anything like this so looked around for pics or videos and while I found bits and pieces on/in different places nothing specific enough to give me a step by step that I felt 100% confident in. Might be because this is pretty basic for most. I have...

    Rubber pieces under my 80.

Agreed. Just ordered some Dobinson's spacers. I guess I can keep driving on it in the meantime while waiting on pkg to arrive. Stinkbug will just get progressively worse while the spacers wear away.

    Rubber pieces under my 80.

Turns out it's the spacers. Both at the same time?? And there are more rubber bits under the car in my parking spot at work. So either the warranty just expired and they're disintegrating or something else has changed causing more or different forces on them.

    Rubber pieces under my 80.

Holy crap - I hope not. I don't know much but I think I know there's some 300 ft-lb bolt associated with that right? If that is the issue, is that a "drive it somewhere to fix it" or "tow it somewhere to fix it" issue?

    Rubber pieces under my 80.

Lately when starting in the morning I can hear what I can only liken to a playing card in bicycle spokes if the wheel was turning really really fast. It's not loud - just kind of a high speed chatter. I was thinking maybe a pulley was loose or had a bad bearing (if so, hopefully the idler...

Builds Pippy's 97 CE Build Thread (Now with TURBO)

A good, thorough cleaning is always good. I've never done it but need to. When you pull the carpet is it glued down or once all the fasteners are removed it just slides out? Any major prep before (besides sweeping/vaccuming) putting the sound deadener down?
