This. I was at a high end film shop in Salt Lake the other day. We chatted about this windshield protective film. He said it’s great for the vehicle that is driven infrequently ie weekends and not in adverse weather. Can’t use an ice scraper on...
You know it's serious when even the UN avoids the twin-turbo and choose naturally aspirated V6.. it's not flashy.. it's not fast..but it also won’t shower the Sahara in shrapnel when the bearings let go
Both boys drive cruisers. Taught them how to drive on small country roads since they were 8 years old. Taught them stick shift before they were 12 in my 40. Teach them early, they do better in the long run. They drive 40s to college and more.
My teenage son was gifted our old Odyssey. At first he was embarrassed and wanted nothing to do with it. But as soon as I handed him the keys…he was in love. It was his. He babies it. Keeps it super clean. Changes the oil etc.
He gets to...
A 45 series is a pavement tire, regardless of whether it's MT, AT, RT. Can't do any serious offroading with 22's on rubber band tires. F-rated tire is going to ride like crap. In fact, both will probably ride like crap. 22's are a complete...
I moonlight as a driving instructor for Defender and Range Rover, and I recently spent a couple of weeks in Canada driving a 2025 Range Rover Long Wheelbase with the twin turbo V8. It's truly next level refinement, and I love the refinement...
Original engine had 165k miles on it before a valve spring decided it had enough. Carnage ensued.
Found a donor from a 570. It had 70k miles on it. We’ve put around 3k miles on the donor.

I chose Scenario 2 when my engine grenaded. Depends on how much the truck means to you man. Ours was / is special to our family. It was worth it. I know my 200. Inside and out. I looked at all the options as you are. It’s part of the process. For...
I too considered a rebuilt crate engine. But I decided I wanted a sealed donor. IE a donor that hadn’t been opened up and molested. Just too many unknowns when hands have been in there. Plus the labor hours it involved made it cost prohibitive.
Hi all,
Just purchased a 2016 with just over 105k miles from a Porsche dealership ironically….guess they traded it for a cayenne. As a 911 owner, I wouldn’t touch one of those even though they drive great. Will attach a few pics. A part of me...
When I get time I plan to dig into the parts diagrams and find out. I do believe our engines have a low oil level sensor that tundras do not, but most of the other parts not involved in the flex fuel system are identical. I intend to find out for...
If my engine ever blew, I would buy a local used Tundra motor and do a write-up and analysis on what specifically needs to swap over. It will be useful, and I’m sure it would cut the 15k repair bills in half for the (low chance) that these...
I just went through this man. Literally. I’m just describing how it worked when I needed an engine for my 200. Car-part would not sell my shop an engine that wasn’t compatible with my vin. For example, if you have a 2008 200 they won’t sell you...
I learned it comes down to vin compatibility.
Reputable shops/yards selling used engines will ask for your vin. If the engine you are looking at buying isn’t compatible with your vin, they won’t sell you the engine. Could be why we aren’t seeing...
I was at my local Toyota dealer this afternoon to pickup some parts for my 200 aka as a Real Land Cruiser. Sales guys always greet you. They were all checking out my rig. A few even pulled out their phones and took some pictures. Nice fellas...
The sequoia is a non starter due to not having a full time 4WD transfer case.
Really, it’s a decision of a LX 600/700h if you can get over the grill, or an Armada or Tahoe. The 250 doesn’t cut it though.
I’m actually stoked to see what reliable...
I’m just trying to save people money…
There’s greener pastures elsewhere and I would look at alternatives like the Nissan Armada or Chevy Tahoe before looking at a 250. That’s how far Toyota has dropped in these new generation trucks when...
