A little follow up. Pressed in the OME CC bushings using alignment marks from the plumb bob method. Castor measured at 1.80 and 1.86 degrees at each side. So I got them installed fairly even. Problem is that the steering wheel is very sluggish...

As Ross said I use the other arm and a couple of pieces of 5/8" dowel. I press the rear bushing first, lay it over the other arm with the dowels in it, use the dowels to lineup the front bushing, tap the bushing with a hammer to start it into the...

the easiest jig I saw was some 1/2" copper with 2-90* elbows sweated together at the proper distance. Not exact but close enough.

the holes in the bushings need to be spaced that far apart or the bolts won't pass through. Remember that the holes are offset, so if the bushings were pressed in with the holes opposed the distance between them would be more than 7.30" and if...

A catch can is on my list, possibly the one from Epic Cruisers when they're back in stock. Where'd you get yours or did you build it yourself? https://epiccruisers.com/products/80-series-1fz-fe-oil-catch-can-kit

I think the oil consumption on any of our LandCruisers is a combination of Valve Stem Seals, PCV and blowby past the rings due to high RPM operation or under heavy load, or both. Personally, I'm a bit surprised at the oil catch can which needs...

Ours is in good basic condition. Literally bought by my dad after he retired to get to an from his weekend cabin year round and otherwise garaged. Compression is good, plugs have no sign of oil fouling. 240k miles an I am inclined to keep a...

I run 20w50 Castrol since engine rebuild (*I live in the desert) and took the truck on a 1,300 mile trip from PHX to SD and had to empty the oil catch can every ~500 miles - every other fill up - back into the oil filler at the valve cover. I...

Hills and speed seem to be why my 80's been burning the oil. Going to edit my post to give the oil and maintenance info.

How fast were you trying to go? It matters. These things burn oil the faster you try to push it; the sweet spot seems to be about 60mph. Any faster than that, and I'd expect higher oil consumption, and I'm on a fresh short-block rebuild with 25k...

If you don’t know the exact level when you started than it’s hard to determine if you have an issue. I would get it topped up and monitor after 500 miles. Many have posted around a quart of usage every 1000-1500 miles on higher mileage motors.

So that's about 700 miles, and your oil was definitely at the full line when you started? These beasts do have a tendency to burn oil, and yours is high miles. However, 1 quart in that distance does seem a bit excessive. You can direct the...

Oil was full. On my drives BC to CA it wasn't unusual for me to need to top the oil up after driving on those 70mph/80mph highways.

No promises on them being made in Japan. Last batch we received about half Japanese made and half Chinese made. It’s just a lot easier and cheaper (TBD with the tariff situation) for us to order directly from Japan since they’ll sell us multiples...
