Where is the old school turn your head left/right checking the blindspot? In my state, they still teach newbie in driving school and failed your driving exam if you miss this step.
This may be a poor mans BSM, but I find having a convex mirror more useful than an indicator and I have more context to work with. A large 3.75" one works great on the cruiser.
