As soon as we get one in the shop we will design a rear gusset. That being said, with the bigger studs and beefy axle flange on the 200 it is not much of an issue and most will not need one. Good peace of mind though and doesn’t cost much...
When my 2008 Tacoma cycles out of DD duty in 3 years, I was thinking about doing a SAS on SuperDuty 'Tons.
All things considered, I'd be into portals + 40's for about HALF of that project with gas/beer money to spare.
Changing the gear lube out of each portal every 3k miles seems a bit... Much?
That said, $17k for portals vs a linked SAS on any axle I'd really consider doing the work to install (custom fabricated 609) is actually a bargain, all things...
I am considering putting a 2UZ drivetrain into my FJ40.
The FJ40 would be stretched 10".
I've been planning to get a 2UZ and A750 and associated wiring out of a Sequoia. This can be connected to the J80/J100 transfer case with a 3:1 low range...
It’s not hard to hit 2,000 hours in a full on nut & bolt build.
1,000-1,500 hours would be pretty normal for a restoration type build. You can easily have 300+hrs in just paint.
Now most the builds we do are not 40’s but they are Land...
I'd take a GX550 over a Ineos Grenadier, but I'd actually prefer the Land Cruiser J250 due to the hybrid syste, but I think that the 6th gen 4Runner Trailhunter or TRD Pro are the best value of them all.
But ALL 3 of them miss the mark entirely...
I remember buying a clean, rust free hard top and doors for $500, along with a plate style tire carrier for $50 and a clean windshield frame for $100 shipped. All of that was in the early 00's (many of those part I still have).
Recently, I've...
Having read through this thread, I did not see, but it sounds like the brake booster was replaced in the relatively recent past.
Have you checked for burnt valves?
A bad brake booster can cause the engine to run lean, esp the 5 and 6 cylinder...
It hasn’t sped up any for me, been at it anywhere from 4 to 18 hours a day for over a year with very few exceptions.
Everything seems like it is hand built, hand fitted by a guy who has never done any of it before. Lots of redo.
The top took us...
Is there anything great or special about the hotrods that Chip Foose builds?
What about the Porsches that Rauh-Welt Begriff ruins builds?
I'd consider the ICON or a Proffits Resurected Land Cruiser to be on the same shelf as Foose or RWB.
It's...
Is it an FJ40? No. It's an ICON, which is the spiritual successor to the Bandeirante based FJ Cruiser Prototypes TLC built back in the early 00s.
I still feel like Toyota pulled a bait and switch on the FJ40 guys when we'd seen those prototypes...
