      I should of gone with the 5th spare and rotated them out, that's a good strategy.

      I thought it was just a few percent. I have been in that situation and bought 4 tires. Its the price of proper full time 4wd. With my most recent tires purchase i bought a spare and am doing a 5 tire rotation, so if I lose one I am still good.
