Hey all- Mark from Marks Off-Road is traveling our direction the first full weekend in August. I think it would be nice if several of us would show him some hospitality and take him and his wife our for lunch on Saturday the 8th. He'll be at Lucas Oil Stadium for the drum and bugle corp competitions- so we might pick a location close by there.

Does anyone know if any of Mikes eating establishments are downtown?

Let see if we can get something together and show him a good time while he's here in our area.

Luke

Will there be minors at said lunch?

If so that cuts out a lot of places.

Mike doesn't have any locations DT, the closest would be the west side. But they're all 21 and over.

I would suggest The Slippery Noodle <-LINK if there aren't any minors in attendance. It's right around the corner from the stadium. They have typical bar food and cold, cold beer. Not to mention it was a Dillinger hangout back in the day, so it's kinda a landmark.

I don't know of any minors attending- so I think we should plan for the Slippery Noodle. Does someone down there want to be the co-ordinator since I'm about 3 hours away?

Let's make sure to tell Phil the wrong time and place so we don't have to see him.

I could probably hook up on this. Sounds like some interesting discussion.

I'm going to throw this out there....

I live on 160 acres in Brown County adjacent to Lake Lemon.
I have RV hookup, 5 acre farm pond stocked for fishing, a number of firepits as well as many acres of hiking trails in God's Country.

Yellowwood State Forest is opposite my fenceline and the town of Nashville is 20 minutes away in case a significant other wants to do some shopping.
My place is maybe 70 minutes from downtown Indy and I can host many visitors for an evenings camp of guitar playing, bonfires, Land Cruiser talk and of course lots Shiner Bock.

I welcome anyone down this weekend to visit the place and validate this option for our travelling brother from the Golden State.

Hey John, We have a cabin over by BCSP. We have paddled our kayaks in Yellowood Lake and "lifted" countless geodes from the area. We would be down for this weekend but we are headed to Michigan this Friday for a week of camping. I had a Hoosier Cruiser party down there last summer and want to do it again before it gets too cold. Right now I'm thinking the second or third weekend of Sept, but more on that later.
What road is your property on?

John- that sounds like a great offer- I think it won't work for this trip. Marks son is competing in the drum and bugle corp competition and his family is staying at one of the hotels near the stadium. He did mention on the phone that they already have obligations in the evenings- hence the lunch plans.

I'm gonna' be in Indy that day- so I'm hoping to have a nice sized group join us for lunch at the Slippery Noodle Saturday the 8th approximately at noon.

I live off of Greenbrier Lane inbetween South Shore Drive and SR 45.

We'll have to get together soon and I will make plans to be @ the Noodle for this.

I met Mark on the Rubicon in 2004 and have enjoyed his company @ the Hammers.
He is a true gentleman.

So far it appears we have confirmation for AJ, John and myself. Anyone else coming on Saturday?

All are welcome.

Negative ghost rider, Looks like I'll be out of town. Hate to miss it, but I have to live with my wife:grinpimp: [need a P-Whip smiley!!!]

Sorry I had to ditch out so quickly- Duncan was sick for about another 2 hours after that- then was fine the rest of the day, and all the way home.

Hopefully another time will be more leisurely.

Luke

We had a great time @ the Noodle with Mark and his lovely wife Tina.

Can't wait to get together soon Mark.

Likewise, Tina and I had a great time hanging out with you and Liz.:) You gotta let me know next time you're heading out West. Like I said, I'm thinking about trying to work GATOR into my schedule, but I'm seriously overbooked for work at the shop already, so we'll just have to see how that goes.

As for Luke,

So Mark- I believe that Michigan City is substantially closer to Elkhart, than Indianapolis. Like 2 hours closer. If I'd known you were going to be this close- I would have just invited you and Tina to the house for a cook-out- then I wouldn't have needed to run out so quickly for a sick child. And we could have included some of the Windy City guys. So  right back at ya'!:D:D

It's all about the karma Luke, all about the Karma. I genuinely had NO IDEA we were gonna stop in Michigan City until we stopped...in Michigan City. Actually even tried to check into a motel in St Joseph, MI an hour or so earlier. Tina was so disgusted by the place, it took her an hour to calm down enough to let me get off the highway again!

I told her you were only an hour away at that point, and she just gave me one of those looks, you KNOW which one I mean!

So there you have it.

Still on the fence about GATOR. I'll keep you posted.:)

Signing off in Twin Falls ID [very whitebread town if you know what I mean]

Mark A.

Shoot, that's just 2 hours south of where I grew up... What were you doing in MI?
