Sounds like you had a great time. Can you share a few of your pictures? I'd love to see the lava tubes...

The tubes are definitely pretty cool.

Thanks guys,

the abandoned buildings were just off the road, near the start of the mojave road from the avi casino. I'd say driving in maybe 20 minutes and you could see them off to your right. They weren't on my map either.

heres the coordinates

http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sou...59,-114.816356&spn=0.010444,0.017166&t=h&z=16

Temps were in the high 80's and low to mid 90's towards the end of the trail. but the breeze made it perfect.

Yeah, the Avi band Casino is at the trail head (or within a mile or so) ... The books recommend staying over-night at the casino and hitting the road early (if you don't lose all your money).

Yes, normally when we drive the whole Mojave road we start in Needles and stay overnight. Then start early the next day at the beginning of the Mojave road on the Colorado river.

You really need 3 days to do the whole Mojave road. This would be a fun trip in the fall.

Start at the edge of the Colorado River and end 3 days later at Afton Canon Road on the I-15 outside of Barstow.

The gravel kept my truck was shutting off and thus careening backwards at 50mph with no use of my brakes.

Here's NLXTACY trying to climb one of those mounds at that Mojave Cinder mine:

That image is so familiar. I remember him doing the same thing at Pismo Beach before he aired down more. Oh wait, I also saw him doing that at Gorman too. Joey must have a tendency to get stuck on hills and go down backwards.

The good news is if I back into Randy...I know it won't hurt :flipoff2:

And yes, full tires and no lockers was my downfall.
