Time to trim the stable down to free up $$$$$ and garage space for new projects to work on. I’ve had it for about 5 years and have had a great time restoring it and expanding my mechanical skills. It has some of the looks of an older 40 with the mechanical benefits of a newer one.
Originally started out as a hard top, but an altercation with a tree bent and cracked the fiberglass cap, I decided to go soft top. I opted with the vinyl versus the canvas top, and it has held up great thus far. The OEM soft doors turned out real nice and keeps that old school look.

Well, I hate to do it but I have decided to sell my 1981 FJ40. I have two young kids now, a busy job, and have only put 300 miles on it in the last two years. It needs a new home with someone who will appreciate it.
It is a 81, with out power steering and no AC. IT has the original interior, but has been rhino lined and had some rust patch work done. I still have the original floor mats, and everything else except the original radio in storage. It still has the original 2F, and runs/drives well. I was using it in 2007 as a daily driver during the summer. Since the body work it has not seen salt (2005)
The body work is not perfect, it has a few rust bubbles starting to show. My grandfather did the patch work while I was living...

I just had this cruiser on ebay and thought I had sold it. It met the reserve price, but the buyer never emailed me back and most importantly never paid. It is a 1976 Toyota Landcruiser FJ40. I bought it about 2 years ago and have done most of the work restoring it that you see. This is a great running and driving Toyota that you won't be disappointed with. The speedometer reads 13,856 as you can see in the photo, but I think it has rolled over making the true milage 113,856.
13,856 could be the accurate milage, but I find it hard to believe a vehicle this...

I'm offering for sale my project 1971 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40. It has been parked and unregistered since 1975 and has only 40k original miles. It has been indoors this entire time so it is rust-free. The asking price of $2,000 includes the body, doors, hard top sides and rear lift gate (from another FJ40), newer tires (not shown on truck), with original rims w/ clips for hubcaps. If you don't need the hard top pieces the price will be adjusted.

Well, losing my indoor storage next winter and after re-evaluating my finances think it's time to sell the rig. These are current pics (taken 8/15/2010) Did a little grinding on the rear sill since to locate the rust, but didn't get far. Rust has evolved in the usual places and the paint job wasn't very good when I got it, but all around still a decent starting point.
The way I got it:
77FJ40 solid frame with 4 inch SUA lift (unknown manufacturer). 35 MTRs on alloys. Detroit lockers front and rear with 4.56s. SBC with about 35k on it (I've only put another 2k on it). 8274 Warn winch. Edelbrock carb, hei, don't know much about it, but when tuned it's got more nut than a stock SBC...

I just bought this fj40 back in July. I love it. I told myself I wouldn't sell it but reality set in and I really don't bring in the income to make this how I'd like it to be. Also, I'm relocating out of state and I'm realizing I'll need the money.
I bought it and enjoyed it for only a few short weeks before I took to the a well respected landcruiser mechanic to get it in good working order so I'd be able to enjoy it. I've paid him $2,000 to go through the motor and replace the motor mounts, relocate everything, put a newer heavy duty battery tray on, fix the carb, etc. I'm basically just trying to get out what I've put into it and I still won't get back everything. It has a transmission leak that still will need to be fixed...

Hi, Im sad to say that I need to sell my fj 40, due to the loss of my job. I need to make my house payment! Please understand that this will need some minor work to get it 100%. I currently drive it everyday. IT NEVER HAD a/c. #1 question lol. It will need the windshield wiper motor. The original bench seats have some tears. work fine though! The whole 40 has been stripped and painted in POR-15, then had the truck bed liner painted on the floor. Has been updated with front disc brakes from a 1978 FJ 40. Custom made bumpers. The front one has a brush guard with two KC lights. It is missing the dash pad, needs driver side window regulator, The hard top is in great condition.
