My LX700h showed 6 miles to empty. I expected there to still be a decent reserve, but when I filled up it took exactly 18.406 gallons. Google lists the fuel tank capacity at 17.9 gallons, so I’m confused. Does the listed capacity exclude the filler neck, or is the reserve much smaller than expected? Has anyone else seen this?

Probably filler neck volume

That does not explain why the computer still showed 6 miles to go if the tank took more than 18gs. In this scenario, I would expect the fuel light to be already on for a while (perhaps even blinking/screaming at you) and no miles left in the estimate. Something might be up with your computer. Do you have bigger tires? That usually plays a role in the actual miles x what the computer says.

295/70/18

I’ve always averaged filled around 16 gallons. 17 when I push it showing 0. Definitely Very very odd

I have recently upgraded to 285/70/18 KO3s and just completed my first tank with them. The refuel light came on just 1 mile or so before I got to the pump. Refueled and it took 15.5 gallons. So, in theory, I still had about 2,5 gallons of reserve. The volume in the tank and range is still consistent with what I was getting before with stock tires. Obviously, I am not getting the same mpgs, but all else is consistent.

Did you keep pumping after the click? That might explain it taking 18.4 gallons, but the range is still a mystery.

No, I was waiting in my car while I was pumping and I saw that it was at 18.1 so I stopped it then I figured I’d pump to see how much more would go in and it clicked off at 18.4. I’m also running larger tires and this is never happened quite confused.

Agree with the fraud perspective. I've run mine dry, 30 miles after 0 miles left on estimation, and pumped 17.5 gallons in.

Update : 13 miles to empty, 278 miles on this tank where usually I’m getting around 230-240ish.

Next fill up almost 18gallons. Went to the same pump. This pump fills slow and so I’m guessing it’s getting all of the filler.

Our 700’s hold more then 17.9 gallons stated.

When I fill up with 10-20 miles left I get between 15 and 16 gal, range checks out with the 2 gal in reserve. I would try a different gas station.

WHa

What MPGs are you getting from the computer? I still think your issues might be coming from the bigger tires miscommunicating with the computer. I am sure there is someone better equipped than me here to explain the influence of bigger tires on mileage.
15.2. Current trip at 264 miles with 36 left on range. Not complaining, I might just keep doing a slow flow full up all the way to the filler neck if this is accurate
