What I have is a rare 1962 factory softtop truck that is about all original. Has newer style tail lights, and has been sitting for the past 4 years. I stuck the oil pan on and she fired right up. Has a FJ25 intake manifold on it and runs good, the landcrusier experts said that the early 40's like this one recieved some FJ25 parts from the factory from leftovers from the production of the FJ25's. If you look at the door openings it is distinct evidence that its a old cruiser because of the sloped door openings like the even old FJ25's. This thing is in very good condition considering its age. Its one of the few on the east coast and that means its been out of salt too so corrosion is not a factor on this fj40. I mean very little rust on the underbody but all sheetmetal is free of rust that I can tell. A few spots have been fiberglassed before I got it but thats about all I know about it and also one small pinhole in the floor pan under the passenger seat where the gas tank goes. I also have not gas tank and it didn't come with jump seats. So condition is as follows: Clean good title
Runs
3 speed on the colume
needs brakes and line work
needs clutch bleed
needs gas tank
all electronics work
32k on odometer and it does work
seats could use recovering
seats need to be bolted down
needs radiator
needs headlight buckets
has tailgate and not doors
no top or hardware
windshield frame is 100% good but needs glass but might have found one.
as far as I can remember thats about it, paint is in fair condition and the previous body work that was done was not that good so I would recommend to redo it if you are wanting a show/fully restored truck. I wanted to make a crawler out of it but no go, funds are not there and it turns out its too rare to chop up. These early 40's are very rare and you can do the research on it so if you are looking for a 40 to build and get a good deal then this might not be for you, its vintage and is great shape for being 44 years old, even the pans are good. Also it has the centered rear diff axle too thats original. Anyway asking price is $2000 and it does run and idles good however clutch needs work because it will not drive due to clutch problem but appears its only a hydralic problem. God bless!!!

I had the t-case in neutral since I was in the garage, didnt want to take out the door. I can try it tonight but since the slave cyclinder is shot I didn't want to risk anything, I just wanted to get it running and brakes are not good so if it starts rolling then I would not be able to stop it in 10 feet before hitting something but I will have some buddies there tonight and can try it safly. Thanks and God bless
