This is the scoop: I am selling an all original 1978 running FJ40. Drive train good. Originated out of Montana (no salt), frame/undercarriage is solid. Tub is rusted from doors back. I am also including a 1970 body (absolutley rust free "prestine" tub which includes hood, windshield, dash, tub, etc.-was stored indoors in Vegas most of its life) When I say "prestine" I mean absolutely rust free and unmolested (no dents). My plan was to place the body of the '70 on the '78, but I have had both for three years and cannot find the time to do so. This will be a project...but it will be a great machine when complete.

Runs great with a new carb rebuild, but needs springs (left rear) and a straighter steering rod (operable). This was a ranger vehicle in CO, was painted forest green with a solid tan hard top for that.
The only changes from stock are armored brackets around the front turn signals (I'll miss those), a larger front bumper (nearly covers the span of the truck), and 31" tires (BFG ATs and a ProComp).
This 40 handled a 7-rated trail (to the coke ovens at Florence, AZ) on my first off-roading trip. It has very little rust, and has a new set of gears up front.
It'll hurt to let it go, but I need something bigger. I'm asking $5,000.

We are selling a project that we just haven't had time to finish. It's not much of a project really, just needs a couple little things. It has a fuel injected 305 out of a camaro which runs awesome, an sm465 tranny, spring over lift on 35in mud terrains, tilt column and power steering. It runs great but needs a new rear bumper as someone messed up the one that's on it by cutting around the tail lights. Other than that its pretty much good to go. I am officially in the market for a 40 series. I've been lurking around here for a couple years wishing I had the money to start a project. I'm done with college and finally able to let go of a little cash. My budget is around $3000. I am located in central Arkansas but I do not mind driving a little ways to get one. I do not want a rust bucket because I have no experience with body work nor do I have the tools to fix it. I expect there to be some rust however. Thanks for any leads.

I have hit the ripe old age of 40 and I think I am running into my midlife crisis, I have alway's wanted an FJ and seethed with envy whenever I saw one on the road. So now I have made it a mission of mine to find one, and have slowly educating myself on FJ's. From what I have read I think '77 or later are good years, I live in the WA and willing to ship if the price and FJ is right. This is our FJ40 model Land Cruiser. It is in great shape and runs strong. We've owned it for about 8 years (2002) and have really enjoyed it. This is the one that was on display at My Auto Import Center in Muskegon last year when Toyota was advertising the launch of their new FJ Cruiser.
There were only 598 of these imported to the US mainland in 1962. An additional 2 were imported to Hawaii. This is one of those 2!
