I am new to this forum and am looking to buy my first land cruiser. I am from central Pennsylvania and am looking to spend anywhere from 4,000.00 to 8,000.00 for my first one. Life has presented me with a great opportunity, and unfortunately, this opportunity requires a bunch of money! So, with great sadness, I have decided to sell my FJ40. I've owned this vehicle for about 13 years, and in that time, I have poured an amazing amount of time and money into it. I never expected to sell it, but here it is. This Cruiser underwent a full frame-off restoration about 9 years ago, and in the process of putting it back together, I spent an absurd amount of money and time to make it exactly how I wanted it.
After installing the power steering frame mount, shackle reversal kit, and V-8 motor mounts onto the frame, I had the entire frame sand blasted and then powder coated. The tub was completely stripped, rusted...
1974 Toyota FJ-40 Landcruiser for sale. Vehicle is in great shape. Has been my baby and work in progress for 4 years now but other things have come up and it must go. 4 years ago I had this torn completely down to the frame. Everything was gone through, cleaned up, and replaced if need be. List of what I have done but not limited to is:
- Replaced rear tub with aluminum Aqualu tub. Has fold down tail gate with storage and also has trunk
- Installed 4 inch suspension from Man-A-Fre
- Old man emu shocks and steering stabilizer
- Upgraded heavy duty tie rod and relay rod

I'm looking for an FJ40 near the Salt Lake City, Utah area. If what you have is a perfect fit I would check out parts of Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, Wyoming, and Arizona.
I'm looking for a daily driver and not a purpose-built rock crawler.
Must have:
-V8 conversion.
-Manual transmission
-a top (soft top or hard top)
-doors
-all gauges must work
Wish list but not a deal breaker:
-minimal rust
-a mild suspension lift
-jump seats
-power steering
-disc brakes
-Ambulance doors
-swing away tire carrier
-locking center console
CANNOT HAVE:
-an automatic transmission

I am selling my '77 FJ40. It is in very good condition, although it is not restored.
The FJ is in very good condition. It is smog legal and passes with no issues whatever. The only significant problem I know of on this whole truck is that the wiper blades do not work. Everything else (with the exception of some of the little interior lights) works. The gauges all work, the dash lights work, the heater blower works, the heat valve works.
The truck has a recent carpet kit and recent paint and looks quite nice. It is not what I would consider restored, just in good condition.
Some of the parts on this car worth noting are:
Brand new BFG Mud Terrain KM2s 33”x10.50”x15” mounted on powder coated FJ60 rims.

A good friend of mine who is a Toyota enthusiast is looking for a 40 to buy. He's not looking for a basket case nor a trailer queen. He wants something to drive around town and has rear seats. Mild or stock lift. 35" tires and under. something in the 6-14k range.
Also this needs to be in the southeast. Something he can go drive and look at.

So after going rounds and rounds about trying to figure out what to do, I have decided to sell my FJ40. At first i was gonna keep it and have my cousins husband fix it up but he flaked and I had a change of heart and thought it wasn't practical to have this truck so i bought a 96 LX450 instead. This one needs to go.
There are very few goods about this truck as it is a resto project. The only real goods are the hard top is in good condition. There are a few tiny spots of surface rust but all in all its good. All the glass is there and looks good. Just needs a paint job. Also, the interior is in pretty good original condition. The seats are good with just the drivers seat that needs to be reupholstered. There are rear jump seats that...
