I have a 79 series project in the works at Proffitt's. I've decided to take another direction and would like to sell the complete project. What I have:
Proffitt's 79 series body
80 series frame (powder coated by Proffitt's)
1HD-T diesel engine out of Japan with auto tranny and full time t-case. This engine is supposed to have between 40-60K miles.
complete 70 series dash with steering, pedals, ductwork, etc, etc, etc,
complete wiring harness for complete truck out of 70 series
seat belts, mirrors.
I am waiting on Proffitt's to tell me how much they have invested in labor. They have built the sliders and rear bumper. Don't think they have anything else done at this point.
I have $19,000 invested in all the parts at this point which includes everything but the sliders. If someone is thinking about doing a build, Proffitt's could jump right into this without a hitch. If you are interested in just buying the parts(complete) I would need to find out what I owe them in labor before making a deal. John told me today they could finish the build in about a month if you want a cruiser asap.
Don't want to part out at this point but might at a later date. PM me if you any specific questions.
Thanks

Forgot to mention, the dash included the steering column, wheel, clutch/brake pedals, etc. Also included are 5 rims off Toyota, 18 hole design.
The frame has already been lengthened to accept the long bed of the 79.
Questions welcome or you can call Proffitt's direct and talk to John.

You might want to mention your plans on the "70 Series Tech" portion of the Forum.

I am in holding pattern until Proffitt's tells me how much I owe them for work already done. As of yesterday they have:
Stretched the frame and painted.
rear bumper and painted
sliders and painted, attached to frame
2 1/2" lift suspension on frame
"Worked" the axles
Don't know what else. Hopefully know something next week when they get back to work.
Difficult situation and any advice welcome.
Thanks

advice: finish the project.

then either find some way to keep it or sell it complete on Ebay.

I second that...finish it and sell it complete. I think you will get the most money out of it that way. If you sell it like it is now you will most likely have to take a loss. You could possibly part it out and recoup most of your money but that would probably take more time that finishing it and selling it complete.

As soon as you have a purchase amount total, let me know.
PM please.

I want!

Let me think about the smog nightmare a bit. California blows when it comes to this type of thing.

Would you trade what you've got for a nicely set up FZJ105?

Sold

Complete project has been sold to fellow Mud member. I will leave it up to him if he wants to reveal his plans for completion. I hope he does!
