I (and a few others) think the social group is getting a little full...

So here's our name thread, post up the options that have been brought up, and any new ones you can think of, and we'll compile a list to be voted on.

Also, if you have another topic to be discussed, start a new thread, this is the name thread! :D Now I have to go to work!

I keep hoping if you see it often enough.... :hillbilly:

Siskiyou Trail Toyotas
Siskiyou Trail Toys
ORCA (Oregon/California)
TORC (Toyotas of Oregon/California)

Surprisingly I think I kinda like the TORC one. Course that may not be a good thing as I keep breaking things . . .

http://oregonwheelers.com is currently being used as a kinda homepage. I will update the links to point to this instead of the generalization check your Social Group.
For those starting to look in now. I already had the page and am just redirecting its use to us now.

TORC Rocks especially when wheelin'! Besides it's an accronym and a clever one at that!!

TORC... toyota off road coalition/crew
TONCA Toyotas of Oregon, N. California
TOTOT Toyotas of the Oregon Trail

STORM Siskiyou Toyotas Off Road Members
STOMP Siskiyou Toyotas Offroad Mountain Partnership

or something, just throwing them out there...I already have my choice from way back.

STOMP Sweet new Accronym!!

I'm not sure that STOMP is a good idea. We may have the environmentalists after us . . . And on that note never add a word that starts with H on the back of TORC, I'd hate for them to blame us for the next forest fire. ; p
Ebag333 needs to remind us again what his acronym stands for, lol.

By all means we can throw that into the bunch, that was my original thought but then we started talking about the politics of the name and other peoples perceptions. Unfortunately I think we need to consider what other people think when using a name.

There's already a Jefferson State offroad club, one of my buddies is in it... Plus the political thing... (O.R.C.A. T.A.C.O. may not make it for the same reason... :D)

I think we should compile a master list, then have everyone vote (maybe for their favorite 3?) and narrow it down to the top 5-6.... then vote on those for the final.... How's everyone with that idea?

That's what I was envisioning.

Who here or elsewhere has expressed offense at the Jefferson State concept, and what are the supposed negative connotations? (Seriously asking.)

On the other hand if there's already such a club, well then... :p

Curtis, nobody on here expressed distaste with the name. I personally have talked to a few people over the years and upon mentioning Jefferson State would have them roll their eyes or something similar. I am pretty sure it is due to ignorance on their part of understanding exactly what the "movement" is and they just think it's a bunch of backwoods or right (or left not sure) wing hippies tired of SoCal. That's the vision I wanted to steer away from because it seems more people are ignorant than not.

Hope that helps :meh:

I picture the State of Jefferson movement as being the mostly rural areas having their own representation vs. Metropolitan areas dictating laws for rural areas... Left or Right, sounds novel BUT it is a political issue, albeit historic I suppose. I think it could be put up for a vote but I think the concept of having a club name/acronym (acronym) that covers who we are, where we are from and what we are about.. leaving politics out of it.
I think its kind of nifty when the name sounds more official than just a club... coalition, authority, militia society (although there is already a rock-crawling-jeep-society in the coastal N. Cal. area)
I'm picturing some badge like logos officially displayed (magnetic door logo) ;). Maybe get some green pants, tan collared shirt, snap on pony tail with a Willy Nelson head band and a clip board... A USF green paint job would top it off nicely- nah, that's going too far..

That's not political/controversial?

Curtis

Pretty sure he had his tongue firmly in cheek when he posted that.
