Matt, "bhmmapping" been working on these for a little while and he's done a fine job putting them together and fitting them perfectly.
There are several things I need to do to finish them up. Sand, prime, paint and install aluminum top.

Had the bright idea of having them hot dipped galvanized and so far so good. Except for the piece of hardened coating on the inside of one of the 2x3 tubes. Sounds like a bell everytime you move it. That's got to be removed somehow. Will cut a 1" hole first to see if that works.

Will post pictures when complete and know they will be a fine looking and unique set. Very excited about completing them.

Anyone got suggestions on the type primer and paint that would be suited to painting galvanized? I know there are many types not suited for this and will peel very quick.

beautiful!

Very nice! Not sure as to paint for galvanized but for mine (not galvanized) I used some textured metallic duplicolor that matches my Thundercloud paint very well. It has also held up very well.

where are you getting them "hot-dipped"?

Metal Plate Galvanizing, Bham. Did a fair job but will have to sand/grind some to get good smooth surface before painting. Will try the aluminum primer suggested and then paint with either satin black or semi-flat which looks pretty good.

If anyone else is thinking about this type coating be sure to tell them not to quench them as the paint will not hold well at all.

Will try to get them on tomorrow. A little paint makes a big difference. One thing for sure, paint might peel off but they won't ever rust.

That is SICK!

I guess I should've used zip ties? Or maybe some old coat hanger wire.

Save them for attaching the sliders to the frame.

Will try that and let you know how far I get.

Anytime. You might say I was granted an extended vacation Monday. Should have time to completely disassemble and reassemble the entire truck.

That will work. At your place or mine? My spelling is pretty good but the keyboard keeps making errors. Got a new one but it does the same thing.

There on!

Matt came by and did more than he should have putting them on. Turned out better than expected. Better than any I've seen before.

Time estimated to install - 30 minutes. Actual - 2 hours 30 minutes.
Had to run get more zip ties. Takes about twelve heavy duty per side.

Land Speeder might like this now. My navigator seems to like them.
