I drive a 91 FJ80 that I got back last November. Been slowly getting it up to par with PM and was feeling decent as to where it was. In October I had a guy change out the hoses and do a tuneup on it for me. He also gave the engine a good overlook - he came with a great overall referral, but was admittedly not a LC expert. I felt he did a pretty good job - but I'm a n00b, so take that for what it's worth.
Anyway. Cruiser was running well. Averaging 11.6 mpg as my DD (though DD is only about 10-15mi avg round trip.)
I got home from the gym a bit ago and pulled in my driveway. Hopped out to go pull the trash to the curb and heard a hissing and water dripping sound. -- I park in the driveway.
Grabbed the flashlight from the garage in time to see green (yes green - and no I didn't change it) fluid dripping out and the engine steaming.
I looked around with the flashlight but couldn't see an active leak.

Like I said above, I'm a car tech infant. I'm about to head back and out see if I can figure out what's up, but it's almost 9p and I don't have high hopes on my own.
I have an FSM on the computer, and I'm sure I'll be using it.
If anyone has any tips that you can throw my way, I'd be appreciative.

TL;DR
Coolant starting pouring out after getting home.
Need suggestions.

Thanks!

Well working in the dark is definitely a PITA. I cant tell where it came from, as it is. I did snap the shot of standing coolant on the engine - but I'm sure it's of no value.
The reservoir is nearly dry. The radiator cap is wet but don't see anything there. The bottom of it is dry, appearing that the leak occurred right around the alternator.
Please correct me if wrong, but from a troubleshooting standpoint, i should be fine to use water in the reservoir and start the truck to monitor for leaks, right.

Another quick update -- I try to provide as much info as I can.
Started the truck and let it run for about 5 min just to observe.
I saw no leaks and no signs of leaks.
The one thing that did change is the billowing white smoke I now have coming out my exhaust.
I have a rebuilt exhaust with no cats or muffler.
The smoke was constant for the full run time. It's pretty windy out right now, but I couldn't detect any significant difference in the odor of the exhaust - it smells like exhaust.
