At 150K or so the old Mr T's cats have been eaten by the NE steel termites :frown:

I ordered at set from Auto Parts Warehouse | Car Parts, Truck Parts & Auto Body Parts Online - Free Shipping on most Auto Accessories & Performance Parts – AutoPartsWarehouse
these
Davico Front Catalytic Converter
for the front and this for the rear
Davico Rear Catalytic Converter

They were $374.47 with free shipping 10% off coupon found online came out to a total of $337.02 to my door
Old ones came right off after fighting with the heavy hanna siders. They fit really good went on fast , had a leak at the manifold so I went to pull them off to check my screw up on the gaskets and then all hell broke loose :frown:

I broke one of the studs , no problems getting the old ones with 14 years and 150k of use but 10 mins and 0 miles ,pop
That only took about 4 hours to get out. there was alot of stud hanging out so I found my stud extractor kit , not happening, out came the torch, the was another PITA since everytime I went to snake it up thru the bottom past everything Id bump the knobs and out it went :censor:
Once I got it hot enough (after spending 25 mins at a time to keep the damn torch lit) I stripped the extractor, then do the all torch thing again now I cant find the vise grips :censor: so start the cycle all over again plus I could only get a 1/16th of a turn each time while reaching as far as I could .

Its now done but while under there I found more things to fix

Here you can see the pipe lines up with the bracket off the back of the motor , I just need to get a clamp tomorrow to finish it off and go over the bolts after a small cruise .
and "the stud":bang:

Heres
a problem ready to happen
At least its just the bottom 4 inches so I'll just cut them off and add silicone hose to the rear hard line set above the cats as I replaced those a few years ago and still hanging in fine

would the cats not fit sideways? Seems like it would be nicer to have them above the bottom of the framerails.
Mine fits sideways just fine. Makes an extra inch or two of clearance. John

Curious why you went with this brand? I checked your link and it seems like there are multiple brands in different price ranges.

This website says BOSAL is OE replacement. Anyone know if this is correct?

Have you had any trouble with the CEL since installation?

Thanks

I went with this brand as its got the same warranty as the others , it was cheap , came with just about all the gaskets , but the O2 sensor ( picked that up at NAPA awhile ago)
I havent had any problems with a CEL code since and the truck runs much smoother .
I am running the Bosal mid pipe/muffler and the stock tail pipe.
As for the Bosal they are a good piece but I dont think they are worth the difference in the $$$
As for them being a OE replacement they are using a play on words as yes they do replace the OE unit with a aftermarket unit .
I'll be the 1st to let people know if these rot off in 6 months

I am thinking of going this route.

Any codes pop up yet?

Thanks,

GB

5/7/12 update

Well
Last night I heard a rattle , The front cat shield is loose from the body (will get a nice big hose clamp for now ), no leaks tho .
So far no codes popping up other then the o2s need replacement p0130 and 131 just started but they did have 50+k on them when I did the cat replacement .
They look scaley and ugly but some of this is I drive it maybe once a week and have a gravel drive .
I keep everyone up to date on this like I said in post 1 as time goes on
