I took a water separator for a fuel tank and made my catch can.
Only problem is mounting it. It doesn't have brackets or a way to mount it.

I drove about 25 mi hard on the gas and there was maybe a tablespoon of oil in it.
Now I know where my oil is going.

Thats a pretty cool little tool. Too bad about the oil.

Kurt, two things:

First a tablespoon in 25 miles is way too much to be called normal consumption.

Second, even with normal consumption that can is so small that you will have to have it drained prolly on each and every fillup of gas.

I suggest first figuring out the abnormal consumption and then getting something larger. I'm sure you've seen my thread on this but if not ...

Hope that helps.

I think the filter is bigger than it looks.
The bulb part of the separator is 8" x 4".

My oil consumption is strange.
It always was 3000mi for 1st qt and then 2000 1500 etc.

Now its 1qt for the 1st 2000 mi then 1500 1000 800 etc.

I have about 8000 mi on oil so consumption is at its highest and time for a oil change.

What is happening to the oil or what is the motor doing to vaporize the oil?

which line did you put this on? Was it the vent line on the passenger side or the PCV line on the driver's side?

My first thought was that there might be a baffle out of place in the valve cover. I'm not completely sure but I thought there was one in there to help keep oil from exiting the PCV system.

I get about a table spoon or 2 per tank of gas.

Wow! I get about six tablespoons every 3000 miles! That is from two catch cans together, one on PCV side one on other side. Are you sure yer not talking teaspoons?
