show'n some respect..

it was 2003 I was 16 and went to my 1st off-road park with my dad in his CJ5 and was hooked! the next few months I looked at a lot of cherokees and just couldnt find anything I wanted and/or could afford. Never looked at Toyotas as I couldnt come close to affording one..

jump to early 2004 Im a junior in high school and 1 day the new kid drives his "uncles farm truck" to school..1985 toyota pickup std cab 5spd 4x4...I tried SOO hard to buy it from him but he'd never sell...

jump to fall 2005 "new kid" comes into work and says he's moving and will sell me his toyota...OMG!
me and my brother go check it out...ITS ROUGH...he wants $300, good luck the frame is gone and the left rear spring isnt attached to anything in the front...we leave and Im...upset...

jump to fall or 2006 "new kid" comes into work...says his buddies sick of looking at the old toyota...and I can go get it...FREE.99 me and my dad go get it, its still rough

mess around with it(still broken) in my parents yard til I get the time to fix it. Took the whole week of college christmas break and fix the frame(my 1st big welding job)

so its fixed on bald 31" TSL's and works great..but I needed more jump ahead it has a spool, teraflex shackles, long travel rear shocks and 33" cooper STT's

being young and dumb I never drove this like it deserved always boucing it off trees and hitting things with no front bumoer...young and dumb

jump to yesterday  I feel bad for the ol' girl this was my 1st 4x4 and still is one of favorites. But its falling apart and looks like butt.

Well heres the progress in the lower pics from tonight.I went to school for body work so this is fun to me.
plans
-fix body
-replace front springs with good stock ones
-install spool again
-make sliders and bumpers
-GIVE IT THE REPECT SHE DESERVES

the doors off my 2wd turbo xtra cab I parted out..I have both

and I think its going to be called lumpy...its got a good running 21R (hybrid) with a decent cam and knock-off flowmaster...its sounds gooood

Nice!
How's the 20R head swap treating you? I did some looking, and it looks sweet, but is it a difference you can actually "feel" or is it just one of those reassurance things, like lifting a Silverado?

well...thats a story in itself

the block is an 83 with the Oe domed pistons
the head has a 3 angle valve job little port job and a shave
I dont know what the cam is
it also came with with a canon weber intake and a 38 weber

its runs AWESOME lots of power sounds great idles like a muscle car

it NEEDS NEEDS NEEDS propane or GM EFI

going up steep bumpy hills while wheeling I need to floor board it other wise the carb wont keep up and Ive tried messing with it with little difference

when I got the motor it was somebodies mess and I got it for $500 but "needed a head gasket" 3 gaskets later I finally got the head milled after not noticing the chain had ground into the head and there was a lip...DUH...

and its had a problem of out of the blue it would blow coolant SOMEWHERE?? and over heat but Id top it off and itd be fine for quite awhile...but I think its the toyota deal and I need the t-stat with the extra valve
