Hi,

A couple of weeks ago I noticed that one of the tie rods on my rig had a tear in the boot. I've seen pickle forks used before with varying levels of success. I got on the line here and was pointed toward an OTC tool. I used OTC tool 7315A which didn't destroy anything at all. The tie rod end poped out predictably without flying across my shop. I'd recommend the tool to anyone needing to take apart a tie rod either for replacement or to put on a new boot.

That is the one I use and worth every penny it cost. Highly reccomended.

Where do you get them? I need to replace all my boots.

And by the way, are the cheaper Polyethelene Snap-On tie rod covers as effective as the boots?

I'd paste the link in, but you get the whole tie rod page...

I use as much OEM stuff as I can. It usually is the highest quality. That's what I usd in this case, the OEM boots that I bought from SOR. I got the tool at www.all-tool.com. Shipped from Vagas quickly.
