It's about time. The 2UZ and the 1UR were definitely not enough power for the power/petrol hungry Middle Eastern guys. They love their dunes and their powerful petrol engines.

The competition got better (thanks to the new Patrol) and the USA spec Land Cruiser is one of the hottest imports in the UAE. Toyota UAE loses a number of sales to the 5.7 Land Cruiser being brought over.

Many of the Land Cruiser 5.7 are supercharged and clear 500horses in the UAE. I have driven in these a number of times and the performance is astonishing.

Get you a couple oil wells and you won't think they're expensive anymore!

At 320K AED, and comes with less options then the US Spec versions w/ drop down TV screen they are not flying off the lots. The blue LED lights inside are nice but the 60th Anniversary decals makes it look a little cheap.

Also the dealerships are still not stocking alot of parts so you have to go with the LX570 part numbers so you pay more $$ for the same part. Dealer still cant tell me what if anything has been changed on the A/C system from the US version. (knowing the local dealers all they would do is look at the color brochure you pick up in the lobby anyway)

Why does the A/C system need changing? The weather is no hotter than in the western region of the U.S.

There is no such thing as a Lexus only part number if the part is shared with both the LX570 and Land Cruiser. If the part is shared, then it is a TOYOTA part number.

For example, lets say you have a serpentine belt, it will be the same TOYOTA Part number for both the LX and LC if they engines are both identical thus the parts are shared.

The U.S. Land Cruiser and Lx570 should have two A/C compressor's if I am correct. A bare bones middle east Land Cruiser should have only one.

I've never seen a North American or JDM Toyota with two A/C compressors. Two evaporators (front and rear) yes, but both run off the same compressor and condenser.

haha try and explain that to the dealerships in the middle east - a section of the world where there is no MSRP. Like I said only the Lexus dealer parts stores carries the 5.7 parts, thus the price is alot more. Its cheaper for me to purchase from a US Toyota dealer and then air freight it to the middle east if I need a part.

And the a/c systems are not always the same for middle east spec units and other countries. A number of ours (and we armor 70 brand new TLC 200 each month) have larger capacity compressors/conditioners. Also alot of our G9/GX spec TLC's dont have all the fancy emission requirements - which is nice to have here since we have to deal with crap fuel in Iraq/Afghanistan.

That's amazing that prices are so much more expensive that it is cheaper to order and ship from the US. Do you use a dealership or do you go through a distributor like Toyota Gibraltar?

Can you talk about the process that you guys undertake with the vehicles in the process of armoring them?

Also, what emissions equipment do yours not come with? (also, what engines are your LC's equipped with)?

Do you get your LC's through Toyota Gibraltar or some other organization? I'm interested in the logistics of such an operation.

Best.
