Amigos:

Is there a general consensus about how best to approach the deckplate mod for the air box? I don't find a deckplate thread in the FAQ's and the other searches I've done don't seem to point to any one thread or method that everyone seems to like.

Thanks.

Amigo! I once had the deck plate, the extra roar of the motor was fabulous, but knowing my intake temperatures were about as cool as hell, I reverted to a snorkel and stock intake plenum and sealed airbox. To be honest, the deckplate is kind of one of those things you do just to feel like your 15 again, there are no gains with the deckplate other than sound. If you want to pick up a little forward momentum buy a snorkel, and swap out the intake resonator/plenum with a straight tube. Sounds amazing with the snorkel.

Yes, as said above, don't ruin a perfectly good airbox. If you're really wanting that sound, get a universal fit K&N filter and pop it on the intake tube. It'll look about as ghetto as the Deckplate.
