I cousin, 24 y/o girl is in Dulce NM and she borrowed my 98 100 series for a 3 weeks clinical internship in Indian Reservation. She texted me tonight saying she caught black ice and got stuck on the highway and later police used a cable to pulled her back to highway. Then she found out the car started to have something wrong...

She said the car was stalling at about 40 mph and jurking back and forth like someone stepping on acclerator and brake repeatedly. Also she experience high idaling like 4000 rpm when she turn on.

I am glad that she is ok. I am 1000 miles away and I cannot help her. I am thinking about using AAA to tow her to Santa Fe Toyota and have her rent a car there. It is about 100 miles away from where she is at.

My 98 100 is about 160K. It is in prestine condition and dealer service.
What really went wrong? Is it the fuel line? Any advice?

Chris: if I can make a suggestion?

Have it towed to American Toyota in ABQ (another 50 miles further south on I-25). We have very good LC knowledge here as well as very good parts support. We also have a rent-a-car program through the dealership as well.

Do you have any towing company willing to tow my car for 150 miles.

Im not Cdan. He is my boss.
 
I would make sure she does not have it in 4Low since they probably tried to get it unstuck.

My old Jeep broked down 125 miles from home.
I had AAA tow it to a shop I googled about 30 miles away and when i got there I had lunch and called AAA again and said I didnt like the estimate and had it towed the rest of the way.
 
Toyota Santa Fe is just so so. If it's anything major, it's worth paying to send it down to American Toyota in Albuquerque. You couldn't be in better hands with CDan, Beno and Rich Rozelle.

I found a tow truck owner in Pagosa Springs, CO and he seems to be pretty honest. He takes AAA and suggested me to contact AAA and upgrade to premium membership for about $35. Then they will cover 200 miles of tow. So I did and and add my cousin's name on my account.

Other people in Dulce would charge me average $900 for the job.

Talked to Onur and he will help me out.

ABQ is about 150 mile and I am pretty sure she will be fine.
 
She is one her way being towed should arrive in 2 hours. Talked to beno and he will arrange a Tacoma for her to drive back.
 
She went to a mechanic in that area and he told her different story. He said something was wrong and he will take a look on the 28th (knowing that she is leaving on the 1st). So I decided to find a dealer in NM. Thanks for your help.
