I purchaced this LC in June of 07 from San Diego, CA. It's a 10/85 build date. Color is Nite Blue 8B4 with blue/ grey interior. I have LOTS of reciepts of vehicle history including original purchace order Nov. 16, 1985 from Inglewood Toyota. The engine is from a 2002 Suburban and had 1011 miles when Proffitt's installed it in July of 2008. I have driven it just over 20k miles with no problems. I have used only Mobil 1 since break-in (5k miles) and WIX filters. I usually get 14-15mpg. YOU may get better, but I don't drive it like that. Proffitt's also installed Longfield axles and ARB Air Lockers at the same time. The H55 was purchased new and transfer rebuilt in June of 05 @ Cabe Toyota in Long Beach. Runs, drives, and shifts great. VERY enjoyable to drive (my 4th 60). Tom Wood driveshaft and Alcan springs just installed end of December. Springs have not been shimmed for caster. All new OE parts thanks to CDan. The snorkel is not hooked up to engine. A/c is plumbed and charged but electrical is not currently hooked up. No catalytic converters. This truck still looks great. Body is in great shape but NOT completely rust free. All body work has taken a back seat to mechanicals. Hood paint is faded. There are some dents and scratches from wheeling. Peeling clear coat on passenger front fender and rear gates (this indicates these panels were repainted at some time as the factory finish from Toyota in 1985 was single-stage). Passenger rear wheel well has the beginnings of rust (see photo's). The grill and headlight doors need to be re-blacked out. The inside of the front passenger door has rust. I have rust-free passenger side doors I am including. Also non-USA factory sliding rear side windows I was waiting to install until repaint. Windshield is the origional and cracked. Tint is recent. Lift gate struts are tired and hold poorly in cold temperatures, fine when its warm. The interior is clean in good condition. Drivers window regulator was replaced with a new one from CDan. Carpet and rear panels are showing their age. I removed the whole interior when I got it (seats, carpet, panels), washed everything, and had interior professionally steam cleaned when out. Dash has cracked. Rear axle is slow leaking at pinion seal. It is driven daily. I am selling for financial reasons ONLY!:crybaby:

Thanks for the kind words!

The KM2's are not an ideal winter tire, but there are few choices in this size. They're not much worse than the BFG all terrains I had before. On hardpack and ice they could use some siping, but are fine as long as you don't drive like an a**hole.

Here are some more interior shots. These seats were RHD so the passenger is 8 way power. The under seat heater had to go to make room to clearance the seat motors. They also have attatched Toyota seat belt recpticles, so I got rid of the floppy cruiser ones. Adaptor brackets were welded (three per seat, one hole lined up perfectly) and attatched with grade 10 metric hardware. They can go back further than stock for more leg room, and didn't sacrifice any head room. I still have the OE seats in similar condition to rear seat.

I had the factory tachometer redone @ Redline Gauge Works with a face reprint and new internals to work with the GM signal. With ~6k redline on the motor, the 8k face is appropriate in performance while maintaining a stock appearance. Photo is at idle and shows factory guages working correctly. It was just started hence the cold temperature reading.

I know you east coast guys hate seeing frames that look like this so I had to put these up. After owning and wrenching on a 60 from West Virginia, and then one from Connecticut, this Cali chassis is a pure joy to work on, and my knuckles are happy!:grinpimp:

It seems I created some confusion about the passenger side doors. As you can see in the photo's, the factory passenger doors were scarred by a previous owner. The front also rusted on the inside by the hinges. I purchaced used replacements that are totally free of rust. They are included in this sale, but have not yet been installed. They are 8B4 color on the inside, but have been painted white on the exterior. First pics are of replacement doors. Last pic is 12k winch. Thanks for looking! -M.

I changed the oil this past weekend, serviced the air filter, greased the chassis, added 44k to the fuel tank, etc. On Monday I took a drive to Grand Junction to Safari Ltd. and let them do a pre-purchace inspection on my vehicle for one of their customers. The weather there was perfect with temperatures in the 60's. I clocked my fuel mileage @ 15.75 mpg. traveling 290 miles from Summit County to GJ and back to Glenwood Springs. Even though Proffitt's did most of the custom work on my vehicle, the guys at Safari Ltd. were really nice. I have dealt with them a couple of times and hold them in high regard. Hugh said my 60 was a nice example, is set up very well, my asking price is appropriate, and he was as suprised as I am that it had not yet sold. I don't think it was the right fit for this particular customer because it is modified beyond what he would ever require. Now the guys at Safari Ltd. as well as Proffitt's can vouch for this great 60. Call or drop me an e-mail if you want to know more about what Safari had to say about my rig. -M.

Wow - so cool to come across this post. I bought this truck a few years ago, minus the ARB stuff and plus a couple dents. I've since added some dents of my own and fixed some then added more. I had the birfs redone since they were leaking a bit; the engine temperature sensor gave me some trouble last summer; I replaced that, but it threatened overheating again this year - my fault, should have used electric grease I guess. I've replaced it, need to see how it does on a warmer day. One of the exhaust headers has developed a leak -- that's what had me looking on ij8mud, trying to find out what would fit. I've installed a lock box console, and reverse engineered the AC controller to get the compressor to come on. AC worked great until the AC system overheated. I sealed it back up the same day and pulled a vacuum on it. I'm hoping to get around to charging it back up this summer, and installing a temperature sensor to switch the spal fans.
She still runs great and still turns heads - no regrets!
