Hi folks I have a 1980 Toyota Dolphin 4x4 model RV. This vehicle is extremely rare and would obviously make a great expedition vehicle. I buy and rare 4x4's and when I saw this I had to have it.

This vehicle does need work. The motor is old and tired, the body has seen better days, and there is some evident dry rot.

The frame, suspension, axles, brakes, transmission, transfer case, clutch, power steering are all in good shape. It has a 15 gallon tank and a 30 gallon tank, but the 30 is not hooked up.

Propane stove
sink w/ newer plumbing
toilet/shower combo
fridge (can't figure out how it works)
swamp cooler works well
swing out tire carrier/rear bumper needs love
no radio
cab is in decent shape
tube front bumper with tow hooks.

This is a project, but it does run and drive.

We do restorations here if you would be interested in having us restore it, or take it home for a fun custom project suited to your needs.

I am sure you could go another ten years without seeing one of these for sale.

This was a donated vehicle buy an elderly couple (as I was told) to a vehicle yard in Sacramento, it will come with their bill of sale, and a bill of sale from me. You will need to smog it and have a brake and light inspection for California. All the lights work on it, but a few lenses will need to be replaced.

Please call me at 858-437-7078 or email me at scott.rist@hotmail.com. I can't seem to post pics, but search Dolphin in the Chit CHat section and a friend posted pics for me on post #13. Or email me and I can reply with detailed pictures.

Asking $3500 or best offer and I am located in Placerville, CA near Sacramento. I can help you with delivery as well.

That is a cool little rig. I wish I could justify picking it up.

Bump for a weird truck.

That might be titled as an 80, but the cab is definitely pre 79. 4WD conversion on it, there were companies back in the late 70s that did 4WD conversions of Japenese mini-trucks. Rare, yep, but the body style and given model year don't match.

How wide is it at it's widest section?

Do you know if you can change the nose on it to an SR5 model?

I will get you a measurment tomorrow. As for installing a new cab, anything is possible. The camper itself needs a lot of work due to dryrot and sagging. These thing definitley needs some work so why not swap the cab.

Do you think you might be interested...Montreal to Placerville is quite a haul!

There was one similar nearby a few years back when I didn't camp. When the wife OK'd the camping thing, I headed over there to knock on the door and it was gone. I couldn't believe it, all those years of seeing it in the same place. This one had the 80-81 4x4 front end, of course it was 4x4, but I can't remember if it had the same rear axle.

Anyway, that one's pretty cool.

My wife and I are discussing a few different options right now, but she keeps going back to getting an FJ45 troopy, and converting that into a week-end getaway rig :D

I showed her this one, and she is still leaning towards an FJ45

Still that is a cool rig, and I hope you find it a good home...or restore it first, and then someone will come knocking at your door ;)

in reference to above statements: the body IS NOT an '80.

It IS either a '77, or '78.

bump for a cool camper.
