How many people are interested in a Uwharrie trip?
Has anyone been that knows the ropes?

I'm not going to do the hardcore stuff but it looks like it would be a blast

I'm thinking about camping at least 1 night or maybe staying in Asheboro.

How about July 18th or 25th. Sooner ? We should set a date and start planning.

I'm going to kick myself if I dont get down there this summer.

I would love to go ...

but not for a couple months .. like September ... I have a lot of little issues on the 80 that need to be addressed before a trip like this ... and the 37's too .. I won't go anywhere with my current rubber ...

I will stay one night ... probably camp in the cruiser ...

My friend Will knows Uwharrie very well, and I will do my best to get him to tag along with his LR

I would love to go but maybe not till later for me too. I'm off the weekend of the 18th but I'll be on nights so it makes it hard to adjust for weekend activities having to go in to work sunday night! Middle of August might be good though for down there since it is far for me.

If you want to join ONSC in September, we'll be having another group event. Since it's close to us, we go once a quarter. We usually split up in 2 groups, one goes to Daniel another to Dickey Bell, and the Loop. We usually all go to Kodak and watch the hard core guys attack the rock...

Sounds like you are the guy to talk to.
What's it like there on the weekends? Crowded?
Do you guys camp there and would you recommend getting reservations early?

The map in this thread shows DickyBell as Medium and Daniel as Hard, does that sound right.

I'm thinking Medium for me in my 60 SUA, 3 in lift, 33s. Would that be about right?

I have heard that there are bypasses on even the harder trails.

Thanks for the invite, I'm up for the Sept trip. My brother lives in Clayton so I may stay there and shoot over in the morning.

Thanks
Dave

I might do the same Dave, I have friends in Elon ... so I could get there in the morning and not be tired of driving already ...

I've seen pics of average weekends there, and 4x4's lined up down the road waiting to get onto trails, those could be huge jeep events though, they are dime a dozen ... but I don't if that's accurate ...

Weekends can get crowded, but the waiting in line for a while depends on the trail. Going up Daniel or Kodak, you could be waiting, due to the nature of the trails and obstacles, but there are bypasses. You're usually just waiting for a few trucks to get up the harder parts.

As far as which trails, I took my 40, 4" lift, 31's, no lockers, no power steering up Daniel. Only thing I busted was my fan blade, and it was the first time I had been up there... I'll send links to the pics of the club outing...

Go to recreation.gov to reserve campground spaces. We'll reserve group camps, when we go. They can hold a lot of people, up to 50 and they're $40 a night. Can't go wrong. The single spots are much cheaper, but can't remember the price.

Yep, I work in Clayton and live about 15 minutes away in Garner, we can hook up on the ride over...

Thanks for the info. Nice rig.

Love the pics. I think I'm going to have to get some of my jeep buddies to go down with me, i cant wait till Fall.

You guys got a law against 60's down in NC? I didnt see any in the pics.

What is going on in this Pic? It looks like "Running of the Cruisers". Does everyone jump out of the way at the last second?

Yeah, when that picture was taken it didn't seem we were all up in his grill, literally. I posted that if our insurance companies were to see that picture, they'd raise our rates instantly!

We have just a couple 60's in the club. Actually the yellow 40 owner, Josh, has a 60 that he won from a raffle done by the Colorado club a year or two back... But we're mostly 40 or 80 owners...

1996 Toyota Landcruiser Axle Problem

Hello Guys

This is Joseph from Albany New York. I have a very nice 1996 Toyota LandCruiser and for the past 4 years every six month I have to do the axle job into it, it is a pain I usually spent $400 to $550 in average. please, maybe I have done it wrong, the truck is a fulltime 4X4, I try to get all the parts from the dealer. I am verry exhausted I don't know what else to do. the wheels shake a lot and I would not be able to pass NY State Inspection at this time. Until I fix it again ...Please Help Help. If anyone got any website or picture or whatever, they can zap it to me here or to my direct email at (ROZEL2@MSN.COM)
Thanks in advance guys,
Later,
Joe from Albany NY:meh:

Hey Joe, you should post the issue on the 80 series forum
80-Series Tech - IH8MUD Forums
I'm sure you will get some help there.
Good Luck

Don't reply to that email, maybe spam ...

If not, sorry buddy ...

It's a game we like to play down here.
And right after that I drove my 80 into that tree in the back ground. You guys should come on out in September like Brian says and we will be glad to show you around.

Thanks for the invite. I am planning on going.
Hopefully others can as well.
What is the date? I dont think Brian posted it.

You guys will have a blast. It has a wide range of trails for everyone. My 79 40 that was open/open went up Daniel just fine. we've got some great spotters in the club that will make it look easy. Like already mentioned though it can get busy on the weekends, but as long as there is not another major event it'll be great. I've been trying to get a couple friends from Va down here too. Most of us do camp at Badin lake. Once you have a pass you can even enter from pretty close to the campground and not have to go to the outpost again. I am definitely going that weekend as well.

If anyone is interested here's info on the trip to Uwharrie September 25-27. Friday night is just for gathering and drinking, I'll be hopping off a plane from Denmark and heading out to meet the Friday crowd. Saturday morning we'll divide up into teams depending on what difficulty you prefer and go through a quick safety inspection. Group campsite is paid for by ONSC, and we'd love to see you guys out there...

Disregard the training items in the attachment above, it was from our May trip...
