what might be causing two things to happen that i'm having issues with?
thing one- when coming to a stop the engine idles all the way down to the redline, radio shuts off, blower motor shuts off, and the rig feels like it is going to die. so, i either have to rev it up, or after a second or two, it just sorta comes back up?
idle adjusted, and a vacuum leak was found and fixed when it started, but then it has come back, and yes, i've double checked the vacuum leak. still fixed.

thing two- when driving, and in fourth, on occassion there is what can only be described as a "slip" that will happen, almost feels like the truck is downshifting, then back to normal, and may not happen again on the same drive, or might happen a couple of more times.

both of these symptoms are new, like less than a week and a half old, and i'm perplexed. are they related? completely different? hopefully somebody has an idea, this one is frustrating...

couple of things... 1984 fj60 2f, just had to have the harmonic balancer replaced again, as this is the fourth time the big pulley has come unattached. also, new arb in the back, less than three months old. new ome, same time as the arb. other than that, a week ago longboard was running and driving just fine.

thanks for your time

 If your electrical stuff is shutting off, then it sounds like you have a short or bad connection somewhere. Check your battery cables and connections.
Does your radio lose its presets or your clock reset? Maybe your ignition switch is cutting out?

no presets or clock time lost, just drops out and kinda flashes, then if i rev it up, it comes back, or comes back on it's own after a few seconds.
is there a way to track something like that down easily? battery connections seem to be fine.

Check:
- battery connection(s) to the frame and motor
- have your alternator tested
- have your batter tested

Autozone can test both of those. You could also hook up a volt meter to see what your alternator is putting out. I should put out more than 12v.

HTH,

I second the alternator or voltage regulator. Mine was doing weird things when I slowed down and idled- the lights would dim, ect.

i like the alternator thing, just because it might be as simple as a belt, given that to replace the harmonic balancer, it would have been off. i'll check it thursday, and i'll post up what happens. fingers crossed it's that easy.....

sounds like your fusable link is about to go.

Yep. It sounds like the alternator.

Hey Justin, that starter/generator shop right around the corner from your house rebuilds alts for $50. They have rebuilt 3 alternators and a starter of mine and i have been very pleased.

ok--- so the electrical thing is apparently only happening at night, with the lights on, as i stop. that help any?

Still sounds like the alternator. My second bet would be wiring/ grounding corrosion issues.

newest noticed item in this ongoing fun... even at highway speeds, if i turn on my signal to change lanes, big drop in power, no radio, then back to normal. happens for both left and right signal, but almost always on the left, occasionally on the right.
working on acquiring the p/s pump for my new 60, then get that streetable, and have some time to figure this one out, but any help in the mean time appreciated. i'm kind of on the alternator side, haven't been able to get it tested yet, and was looking at maybe a mean green? what opinions do you guys have in that regard?
