Picked up this 2000 LX 470 4 weeks ago and thought it was about time I introduced it to 'mud.

Bone stock still, but hopefully I will get a chance to get it built up to what will be, admittedly, a fairly mild build.

Has 172,000 km on the ticker and I currently have it in the shop for a timing belt, water pump and new brakes.

Next up will be removing the running boards and adding new tires.

So far it has been a delight to own, other than my visits to the gas station.

All the advice on this site have been invaluable. Thanks to everyone.

good looking LX, love the color and wheels. Be sure to post some pics of your upgrades.

It's starting to bother me that everyone elses Hundy is older yet has lower mileage than mine. :flipoff2:

Welcome! 1LouxLX will fill you in on your first mod. :D:D:D

Black or gray wheels via rattle can - very cheap yet "effective". Front grill too.

Do any hunting in Alberta?

Welcome.

Nothing new to see on the outside, but the truck is in much sounder shape mechanically.

My cousin runs a shop just outside of Claresholm so I had him do the following service for me.

  • Install Timing belt, pulleys & water pump

  • Replace front and rear brake pads (Wagner Thermoquiet)
  • Change oil and filter

Grand total including parts, labour, express shipping to Canada from RockAuto.com, taxes and $40 in gas to get to Claresholm (~240km round trip) and back was less than $1,150

A couple of extra pictures for you of what a timing belt looks like after 11 years and 172,000 km.

I will have to see what I can do about the wheels. A new set of larger tires is on my list and I would like to get an additional alloy rim to match so it looks good on the eventual rear carrier.

No hunting for me, but started taking my 7-yr old son fishing last summer.

Congrats!
