The best method I've used for getting shackle angle correct was to fully load up the spring, put a spacer between the spring and frame(account for the shackle hanger), and get the shackle to 45 degree. On my FJ40, I used this method when I did a through the frame shackle in the front.
I see the process, I won’t get too far ahead of myself with the front shackle mount, I’ll just add a bucket with approx weight of the winch to help load the springs.

A little progress tonight, ground/drilled/air chiseled the spring hangers off.

Had to detach the exhaust to get at the one rivet, wasn’t on by much...and I now know why it leaked so bad.

Been busy cleaning & repairing the travel trailer from the winter/spring visiting vermin, hopefully this will slow them down

Need to source the correct machists knob for the clutch, if anyone knows?

You can get away with stock caster for 2.5” lift, most folks use caster shims for 4” unless the pinion angle is bad. Above that you really need a cut-n-turn. Georg ( @orangefj45 ) at Valley Hybrids sells the caster shims.

Thanks for that, lots of ways to skin this pig.

I know on most of the stuff I’ve modded over the years adding caster (and camber) makes driver feedback and handling better, I’ll probably add caster while it’s stripped down just because it’s now or never.

Went South at lunch and picked up my heater valve from @Pighead , wow it’s mint inside, thanks!

Good
You'll notice that I included the 2 stock, original screws that fasten the pull warm to the dash...

Is that an ABB Automation sign? The robotics company?

ABB might be into robotics but I wouldn't say they are a "robotics company". They are into electrical switchgear, etc. and big into controls and automation. Sort of like the electrical and instrumentation arm of GE.

My buddy does big turbos, like container ship and locomotive big, for ABB...I was in the right place at the right time and took that and a display loco turbo on a stand home.

I thought it was cool. I work as an automation/ controls engineer; those ABB robots are pretty cool. We use mostly Denso.

Time flies, busy summer with the kids camping, doing family stuff and not getting my butt in the shop.

That looks like the original front bumper with a winch plate and of course a hole. I'm thinking about going that way with mine and using something like this: 8274 Winch Mounting Plate

Winch cradle boxed in between the frame with the mount plate along the bottom of the rails, stock bumper with a opening cut for the rope and four bolt holes for the fairlead. Easy-peasy, lemon-squeezy.
Yeah I’ve got a pretty good idea now of how I’ll do it, I’m going to box out a fair amount of the stock bumper too I think.

Filled the shop with dust this afternoon, almost done cleaning the front frame but still need to get the shock tower off.
