WTB Toyota 4x4, Cruiser... Update I found a 88 FJ62

Looking for something cheap, and something that is good to get from Point A to Point B. Interested in a 60/62 or a 80.

Looking at a T100 or a Tundra.

May even Like a Mini Truck X Cab or Taco

Basically I would love to find something with some Offroad work already done... I just like that look on my vehicles.

Lastly I would take a 2wd truck, if cheap... Just cause I am down to 1 vehicle, and the wife and I are car pooling.

email me preferred... DBrown2at firstbanktn dot com

I take it you are referring to a 84-89 with the removeable top... Gezz I was just down there at UTC.. I will check that out...

Ya you got the gist, would love to find a DD Expedition/Camping Rig.

My son has a 1992 FJ80 for sale. I think he is asking $3500. We just did nuckle rebuilds. Good reliable truck. You can call him at 423-488-5554. He lives in Red Bank. His name is Taylor.

Thanks Hatchman, I most likely will after the Holidays, I found a 62, that has a few things done... That may just fit the bill, if I can work it out with Logistics.

Well Just posting I finally found or better yet I had found but logistics almost killed the deal. Anyways...

I am the proud owner of a 1988 FJ62 Gray with ARB Front and Warn 10K, ARB Rack, OME Heavy Duty Lift, running 33's.. its automatic with 240K on it... I posted the chit chat for someone to run the vin for a carfax just cause the person I bought it from I think was given a lie... He was told was a 3 owner ride, and was around South Carolina.. but at work we can run a report but only goes back to 2004 and it shows.. It came from Salt Lake City, and appears to have transfered names inside a family due to same last names.

Since my back ground is Mini Trucks, 100's, and 40 Knowledge... I am trying to learn what is missing off the rig, and really what to look for and what needs to be done or should have been done. The things I know and this is just all old yotas... Knuckle Rebuild are they puking... Well this thing isnt leaking a drop of anything... Got Some cancer in the Tailgate area around window.. and around drivers back window.

So a few questions... the 4wd Button is for what?, I know the T Case shifter I assume is High neutral and low... mine is missing digram on nop and glove box...

Give me your thoughts... Pics soon... I know before you ask...

The fj-62 is a vacuum shift in and out of 4WD, uses electric solenoids operated by the 4wd botton.

Roger thanks, according to my search... If in 2 High, push button, and its 4wd high now... Then T-case is neutral and then Low 4wd...

I found conflict, if in fact in low, if button is needed... Mine has lockouts, so I dont know if that was added or still factory.. Like on my old 80 I added them...

Anymore input would be great... Roger anything I should look for right away?

If you shift into low the front drive should kick in automatically, at least thats how mine worked. The pushbutton shift is nice if its icy. Leave the hubs locked and you can shift in and out easy. I've read that there are some problems with the solenoids going out. The biggest problem I've seen is that you need to check the vacume lines to be sure they are in good shape. You need to add an external trans cooler and trans temp guage, the 440 has problems with running hot.I'd also recommend an external filter. Summit makes one that I was going to put on mine, it uses a Fram PH8A filter. The biggest improvement I've seen is to scrap the gasburner and toss in a diesel, mine gets 20-22 mpg.

I have been kicking around a Cummins 3B in this thing... A buddy, is a few engines laying around... That will be down the road... Right now I just need a DD...

The 40 is the current build rig, and the Buggy is ready at anytime... So dont need another project... But the increased gas mileage would be nice.
