Picture...are you rebuilding the knuckles? What are you needing the tool for. A lot of us have done knuckle rebuilds and not used an sst so we can probably tell ya how to do it without the tool.

Hey thank you, if there's some way to do this without the tool, i'd certainly love to know, the manual (and threads from searching 'knuckle rebuild tool') seem to indicate that the tool is needed.

probably for setting knuckle bearing pre-load. there shouldn't be any other sst's.

That number is the "centering gauge". It is for making sure you have the correct shims under the caps. Just keep up with where the shims came from and put it back together reverse of how it came apart. If it is a box of parts and you plan to drive it regularly, then you will want to use the tool to get the shims right.

i know i could just replace the existing shims when rebuilding, but honestly i don't trust what any of the POs may have done before, would like to 'do it right' this time, so i only have to do this once.
