So I've got the itch to buy my first Cruiser! I'm looking for a Alpine White mid 80's Fj60. I'd like to find one that is rust free and has recently passed emissions or would be able to pass. It would be a weekend/daily driver and hopefully have a decent interior. I'm a rookie mechanic but with sound advice and this awesome site I'd be able to limp thru most projects. Any advice as to where to find a decent Cruiser?

You are certainly on the right forum for this. Go to the Classifieds section and looks under Vehicles/Trailers For Sale/Wanted. Troll for a week or two and you'll find one.

Rust free where you are, might be kind of hard to find. Not exactly sure where in the 509 you are, but I am guessing wet, snowy? winters. When they salt the roads, it eats these up. As stated, try mud classifieds, craigslist, and at times I have seen nice ones in the auto trader. Seattle and Portland should have some nice ones, but it all depends how it was taken care of (and what you want to spend).
Look at the rain gutters, frame cross member in the rear, and inside the doors for rust.
