Sounds like we need a work day! STAT!
Who has a flat driveway?! with room and paved and nice... and ROOM...

You've seen my digs. I'm happy to host if it's enough space.

I can help you at your house with your rig, but I was kinda thinking a flatter driveway than 45 degrees. Thems jokes! but really.

I have a flat, paved drive.

But, it's in meridian, ms. You guys are welcomed to it though

I was thinking the back parking pad moreso than the driveway lol.

Oh, heck yeah!
I don't have anything to wrench on right now. So I would just be there to point and laugh, hand wrenches, surf the internets... I'm ready!

My list is growing. So far I've got:

Broken motor mount, remove, repair, replace
Drop skid plate and check transmission mount / t-case
Washers on spring to keep transfer case from popping out of 4Lo.
Unbolt, drain, re-seal, fill both diffs. (Shunt style, not pulling the thirds)
Recharge A/C
Apply one gallon of high gloss tire shine

You might find... Fixing that motor mount may resolve your down stream issues.... It did for me on a rig.

Yeah, I'm kinda figuring it will. The main reason I want to drop the skid is to just make sure that the motor flopping around like a fish hasn't torqued something out of place downstream, or broken anything that needs to be welded back.

What is this one? Mine pops out and is hard to engage into 4lo but I figure my home made shifter geometry is off

According to Nick's thread there's a spring with a ball bearing behind it that presses on the shift fork shaft, and if it doesn't have enough tension it'll pop out of gear. Put a couple of washers in it to preload the spring, and it stays put. At least that's how I read it.

Now... if my whole drivetrain is sitting all screwy in the truck, and shifting under torque... that could be the big reason it pops out.

I bet the motor mount fixes this. If you search for the issue in the 60 series section that is the first thing suggested every time. I already replaced the ball and spring with the heavier duty version so it is more likely that the shifter is lifting and contacting the body, pushing it out of 4wd.

In 4wd low you can feel that shifter lifting up, I am surprised I didn't figure that out sooner.

meh, I drove Catty for a few years with a broken motor mount. It wasn't until someone drove it at an event that they said "yo mount bursted..." and sure nuff it was. It is night and day lo-range torque difference...

I finally found a picture of a motor mount in the 60 tech forum, and the whole "drill and put a bolt in it" makes a lot more sense to me now.

I can't believe on the side of the engine on which the mount takes a tensile load they didn't have any more reinforcement on it. Just looking at it, it seems like that kind of failure would be common.

I guess it holds in stock configuration for at least a hundred thousand miles, but nearly a quarter million with lower gearing and 37's is a bit much... lol

I saw in another thread a pic of a wide open paved space all around cramalot. So I thinks yous have the best digs for such an event. If you have the power we can bring the tools. What you think the Hoover Met will allow this?

Sucks! Cause this place would totally rock! And there's power poles errywhere! Depending on the job... I bet we could!
I bet we could do under the hood tyoe stuff.... but not axle rebuilds... cause that requires jacking the truck up on jack stands and removing both wheels...
But totally fixing motor mounts and re-sealing difs!

So is there a "wheels must remain on" by-law in the HOA rules so cousin Eddie doesn't put the house on blocks and stay for the long haul?

I'd be down for out there. Only thing would be black top parking lot in the summer time is HAWT. Somewhere with some shade would be nice. Then again... there is an RV right there with an awning and AC inside...
