Some of us have been talking about having a work weekend @ Boulder Creek Jan. 19 & 20. Yea, that is the weekend of the Toyota Jamboree at Gilmer, but the excitement of having a good year round wheel place 1 hour away trumps it. I plan on camping Sat.

Please chime in and we will coordinate this with the Boulder Creek folks.

So far we have the following people:
Jason K.
Jody
Jeff B.

Thanks,

I'd join you guys but I've already paid for the Toyota Jamboree. I'll post this on the Alamo City board too. You might have a few from SA that aren't going to Gilmer head up for a work day at Boulder Creek. Glad to see your talking with their management to set this stuff up.

Yep. Good place for stockers. This place has a lot of potential. We should consider sponsoring a camp site.

i will be there on the 19th, I have to be back for work on sunday morning

dang i already have that weekend booked with plans. Well there are alot of trails that can be cut so i guess i will make it on the next work weekend. Have fun guys

I just an email to Jeff at Boulder Creek letting him know we want to come up.

Hey guys. Next weekend maybe a wash for me. I have someone coming in from Dallas to pick up some parts.

Next available time I have is Feb.

Looks Like I am IN if the weather hold for no rain and mild temps.

I think it is $35 to cut trails

i was under the impression from jeff at boulder creek that if we were comming up to work and cut trails that we could possibly get in for just a camping fee and not a wheeling fee. let us know what happens and what the fees end up being. however for a possible feb trip i may be in if it is later in feb

Just so everyone knows, It was $15 to cut trails Per Truck. We had 11 people show up from other clubs and only myself from ours.............................................................................

WOW. They charged $15 for people to cut trails?!? I've never heard of any off road park charging a use fee when people come to work. Amazing.

Boulder Creek

Some of the guys paid $15.00 per vehicle for 1/2 day ride. For work days we do not chagre anything.

Jeff

ahhh. Ok, that makes more sense. It sounded like people were being charged to wheel after they cut trails.

I have always had to pay to cut trails no matter if it was at Gilmer, Trees or any other area. They have been small but still charged. This is nothing new, however free is always good...

The way I figure it, For the times I went and cut trails at Trees ranch you figure a Tank and 1/2 for the tow truck, 1 tank for the cruiser, Chain oil and gas for the saw, Food for 2 days, Camping and entry fee. At the gas rate today and fees that is $400.00 for the weekend. I can count at least 8 times I went out there, mostly with the TrailRiders and Jody but also with The San Angelo and SA groups. This is Great fun and encourage everyone to come out to boulder creek and cut trails with us. Close and almost Free.

I've been to two trail cleaning weekends at Gilmer and they never charged us for access or camping. In fact, the people at the front office refused to take any funds on designated weekends. Now it has been over a year since the last one I attended so maybe the policy has changed.

All this being said, I do agree with you. Paying a small camping or access fee will not scare me away from any of the new parks.
