i have to replace two lovely fisher wood stove inserts, the insurance company is leaning on me. :frown:

my options so far are ...

Blaze King
Pacific Energy
Regency

does anyone have a recommendation on which brand is best or general advice?

i'm out of touch with current technology.

thanks very much!

I installed an Osburn 2400 insert a few years ago and have been very happy with it.
I had to run a 6" stainless chimney from the stove to the top of my chimney.

It's been covering about 1/2 of my heating cost for the past 3 years.

thanks for the reply.

is the Osburn catalytic?

I was told most of the stoves are made by the same company anyways- just rebadged at the dealership. I know my Napoleon is identical to an Osburn model. Of course i cannot back any of this up with hard data!

All i know is stay away from EPA if you are burning softwood, which i am guessing you are ?

well thanks guys

we ended up going with two blaze king units, the 84000 btu catalytic princess for the main part of the house and the 40000 btu briarwood for the extension. both are made locally here in Penticton.

we are pretty excited about the new units!

wish i had pulled out the old fishers years ago!

well worth the investment so much more heat and efficiency, less firewood for me to harvest!

to anyone who ha an old fisher or an open fire i HIGHLY recommend the conversion, lot more heat!

If you have a door on your stove, you can use the same gasket material that is used to seal the door. The sell fire retarted gasket material and high temp caulkings at your local stove dealer.
