I'm going to be purchasing a new LC200 soon and was thinking of either choosing the V8 GXR LC200 with or without the original rear wheel tire carrier as it is offered at the dealership. I would like to know your thoughts about what to choose knowing the fact that I could just as well order a custom rear wheel tire carrier from various sources with no issue. Keep in mind that I'm eventually going to be opting out for the various off road aftermarket parts. What do you suggest I choose?

I think the most important thing to do is figure out what you are going to use the tlc for most of the time.

If its a family suv i like the tire under only. The spare tire carrier in the back can be a pain in the ass. Trying to open the back to put shopping in the back. Also this will limited you with some of the aftermarket rear bumpers later.

If its a work truck (when I'm in Iraq) I prefer the spare carrier on the rear cause that allows us to run with two spare tires (cause when you get nails on the road from Baghdad to Basra it's usually more then 1 that pop)

First off, thanks for your prompt reply.

My general driving patterns would mostly be in the city, yet I do go in a couple of off road excursions that mostly take place further with Saudi Arabia. Some of those locations are pretty isolated and tend to intimidate any onlookers especially myself. During our last excursion, I faced some pretty rough stuff yet nothing too serious. But the fact of the matter is I was on a stock LC100. I would like to have the capability to not only get to those similar locations in my own vehicle, but have the capability to penetrate some serious barren deserts with no worries. Keep in mind that my vehicle is still going to be serving me on all my needs irregardless of where I might be.

Going back to what you said while focusing on rear aftermarket parts in particular, would opting out for an OEM rear wheel carrier would limit my choices in various rear aftermarket parts I may like to have that may have other functions as well? Also, the undercarriage spare wheel is really more of a nuance rather than a benefit in the point of view of many LC owners, and the fact of the matter is that I would be installing an auxiliary long ranger tank in its place anyways. If you think other ways, I am really very eager to hear your comments, and that goes to any reader that might pass by as well.

I'd go with the back door spare. Its a feature slowly going extinct due to safety nazis.

And on cruisers it allows you to run two spares.

I dont care if theres an extra step to open the rear gate and ive put in a reverse cam for backing up. A 4x4 with no spare on the vack kinda looks like an oversized station wagon. But thats just me.

the lc200 you are referring to the new is with the projector headlights round fog lamps?

Im not sure actually if it has the projector headlights. The only info i have that is still not confirmed regarding the one I'm planning to order, which is the 2012 model, includes an led light strip similar to what u have on the new Lexus IS.

halsager just go with the OME Rear wheel Carrier, looks much better. and if ur planing to add an aftermarket rear bumper, think of where will u drive ur LC. in kuwait 90% of our offroad trips r in deserts and some sand obsticles, the aftermarket bumper will just add weight to ur rig, which is not that good.
