Window Switch

Hello everybody, I've searched this forum and can't find an answer so I'm reaching out for some advice. The front passenger window on my 09 GX will roll down, but won't come back up. It can be raised from the driver's master switch. This leads me to believe that the switch is no good. Has anyone else replaced a window switch in their GX? Is it as straight forward as it looks? Thanks in advance for any info.

Great, so I pulled out the switch to see if there was something physical that was blocking the operation. When I put it back in the vehicle I hit the auto down and it went down, but will still not go up. But, now the master control on the driver door won't raise it either. Any ideas?

Try pulling one of the rear switches and plug it in to the passenger front. I figure it's the same connector on the 3 single switch doors. That'll at least get it back up and confirm the issue. As far as drivers panel not working for it, I'm going to assume you unplugged the switch when I say:
Under normal circumstances after a switch is disconnected or after a loss of battery power, the communication between the drivers panel and all other windows (and also the way to get auto up/down functioning again) is to lower the window by depressing the switch at each door and hold it down several seconds longer than it takes to lower the window (I count to 5), then raise the window by holding the switch up and continue holding the switch up for 5 additional seconds. Do that at every door and drivers panel should work again (along with auto down/up).

The problem your gonna have is you can't raise and hold the passenger window to reestablish communication with drivers panel.

That’s exactly what I did after I asked the forum. I guess I panicked ! Once you disconnect a switch you can’t “teach” the master switch if you can’t raise or lower the windows. I found a part on eBay. New switches are crazy expensive. Cheers.

FYI, most little switchgear things like that are common across multiple Toyota platforms...I've scored several things for my Tundra and my GX at pick & pull yards for next to nothing from Camry, Highlander, Sienna etc. Just last week I added auto headlights for my '14 Tundra (not standard, WTH??) with a turn/headlight stalk from a Lexus IS200 and a light sensor from an old Sienna van. The possibilities are endless!
